Tons of posts here about Jack's and MV.

They are bars. Jack's is a small bar right on the beach. MV is a huge bar with tons of people and loud music.

Probably not places I'd take my 4 and 7 year old.

GT has amazing beaches with warm water and soft sand. And there are thousands of free loungechairs right in front of your ship. About 300 yards to your right (as you face the shore from the ship) there are tons of shells as well.

Bring pails and shovels and let the kids have a blast.

You might not need a clam shell or anything -there were trees right on the beach the provided some shade a few rows back in the lounge chairs. The beach was beautiful. We did the horseback ride/swim excursion through Carnvial which we really liked but I can see hanging out at the beach and being just fine all day :) It was really nice!

rydan, you can definately take the kids to Margaritaville. The pool is HUGE! If you go into Margaritaville and walk to the right and keep going all along the cabanas to the back, you will have a view of the flowrider and you won't be able to see the bar or the DJ from there...much quieter and less rowdy in that area...we took kids there last year from the ages of 1 1/2 to 18 and they all had fun!

  • 3 weeks later...

We were there with kids, ages 6 & 4. We rented a golf cart from Nathan's and did our own tour of the island, drove out to the lighthouse and through town. The kids enjoyed seeing the wild horses and donkeys roaming around. That took about an hour but then ended up at Governor's Beach...quiet, not crowded at all, chairs available, some snorkeling nearby and absolutely beautiful. It's one of my favorite places. We went back to port/Margaritaville with a little extra time and kids absolutely loved the pool...only freshwater they had all week! We were able to find a quiet spot and practically had most of the huge pool to ourselves.

Will be going to GT again in June...will skip the golf cart, but just spend the day on the beach and in the pool. Can't wait!:p

Is there parasailing from the "free" beach right off the ship? or any other activity we can decide to buy while hanging on the beach?

You can parasail from that beach, it is right up the beach but reservations are recommended as there is only 1 company on Grand Turk that does this. This is not a large island and does not offer what the main island of Provodenciales does, this island looks almost as if it was made for the cruise center...

There are a few excursions you can do on Grand Turk, check out the ships excursions and if any interest you just google Grand Turk and what you are looking for and you should be able to find it...
