We arrived home last night about 7:45 after stopping for a bite to eat. Could not find the Lido Deck anywhere on the way home. :D

Heidi, sorry to hear about the mess with the tour guide. Hope you got his name so that you can inform Carnival.

I also recieved my $25 check in the mail today. It will make up for some of those loses in the Casino.

Hello everyone!

 

I am not part of your group but I was on the same cruise with you guys.

 

In looking around Cruise Critic I happened to run into the daughter of the man that was airlifted by the Coast Guard off of the ship Friday evening. She was able to provide a little detail of what happened on the ship and after leaving the ship.

 

Her Dad had a heart attach onboard and is now recovering in Florida after having bypass surgery.

We got about 4 more inches of snow yesterday. I'm really tired of this but at least now that it is March there is a light at the end of the tunnel and I am very grateful that we were able to escape winter for a bit.

No Kidding! It was only one degree when I came home from work last night. At least it's up into the teens now but seriously, IT'S MARCH! I really hoped that the worst of the frigid weather would be over by the time we got home from the cruise. Sometimes we get a lot of snow in March but usually the bitter cold is done by now. In fact, 2 years ago when we got back from sailing on the Freedom, 3 weeks later we had a couple of weeks of temps in the 70's and 80's. Of course, that was very unusual weather too. I saw on the news last night that this winter has officially become both the 3rd coldest and the 3rd snowiest on record. We could still move up a spot or 2 but those are a couple of records I DO NOT want to break.

Heidi, last week we were at the 7th coldest winter but I'm sure it has changed with the past two days. I just hope winter is almost over. Time to plan my next cruise. Trying to decide how many days we want to be in NY.

More snow AGAIN! :mad: Woke up to a couple more inches of snow. It's still snowing a bit but the forecast was for only 1 or 2 inches so hopefully it will stop. I can't believe we go to daylight savings time already this weekend. there has been no hint of spring at all so it just seems strange to have a time change already.

 

i made my doctor appointment to have my shoulder checked out. It's been one thing after another this year. First it was my back, then my feet and now my shoulder. the tendonitis in my feet improved A LOT while we ere on the cruise. I think I just needed to give them a break. Working on my feet has really done number on them. I was afraid that the tendonitis would come back after working a few shifts but so far so good. It's not completely gone but it's better to the point that it hardly bothers me at all. My back still gets sore at times but since I did physical therapy it is much better too. Now if I could just get my shoulder fixed. LOL.

I had a very stressful but interesting day at the Olive Garden on Thursday. I got there at 10:30m for my lunch shift and found our mangers and our director all freaking out because the president and vice president of Olive Garden were coming in. That's what made it very stressful but I met the president and he was really nice. I thought it was pretty cool that they came to our restaurant. With so many restaurants it's not like that's an every day thing. I was especially impressed with how casual the guy was. He came in just wearing khaki's and casual shirt and was even wearing a name tag with just his first name just alike everyone else. I expected guys in suits and for them o be all stuffy but that wasn't the case at all.

We are having a great weekend. Yesterday was cold and wet, but luckily no snow. Today is much nicer, sunshine and 66 is the high. The high the next 2 days will be in the 70's. :D

Today is our son Greg's birthday, he's 31. Hard to believe we have a kid that age!

It's already warm -ish here today. I say warmish because it's nothing like the Caribbean but it's already 40 degrees and it's not quite 10:00 AM yet. After the brutal cold we had this winter, 40 seems pretty warm. We are supposed to get snow tomorrow and Wednesday though. :mad: That isn't really unusual for March though. We got the majority of our snow last year in February and March. What we don't usually get much of in March are real cold temperatures. Of course, that is why it sometimes snows more in March.

 

Sue -Happy birthday to Greg. I know it's so are to believe how old our kids are. Doesn't it seem like just a few years ago they were still in grade school. Where does the time go.

Well, we had 2 days of weather in the low 50's but now it looks like winter is back. We are supposed to get snow tonight and tomorrow. I have heard anywhere from 2" - 18." I could be snowed in tomorrow, or maybe not. I guess we'll just have to see. LOL. Not much we can do about it.

 

I have been to the doctor about my shoulder. She put me on prednisone for 10 days which has helped and today I had X-rays done. They don't show anything except a bit of arthritis. She wants me to start physical therapy and then if that doesn't help they'll do an MRI. The prednisone has helped a lot but I think the pain will get worse again once I stop taking it. I took prednisone last fall for my back and it helped my shoulder then (even though I wast taking it for that) but obviously the pain came back.

Heidi, sorry to hear about the winter weather returning. We were in the 80s today but cold weather is blowing in tonight. No precipitation but just cold. We may have a freeze Thursday morning. Tonight we expect winds of 20 to 30 mph with gust up to 45. Hope you don't recieve the high number in the snow range. Be safe.

Our snow event turned out to be not such a big deal. We got about 3" overnight and the sun is already out, melting it. The roads look fine. I'm glad because I had errands to run today since it's my day off.

Brrrrrrr...it's cold today. Only 15 degrees right now. They said we might break a record low for this date. I am sooooo sick of this. On the plus side...the sun is shining and it should get into the mid 30's this afternoon.

Heidi, sorry to hear it is still cold there. We reached 71 today and will be in the 70s for the next few days before another cold front shoved through. Just hope we get some rain this time. We will try to send some of this warmth your way.

Good Morning!

 

It's warmer again here. About 47 degrees right now. this is very typical March weather for us. Cold one day, warmer the next.

 

Today is our 27th wedding anniversary. I will be working at the travel agency this afternoon but we will go out to dinner tonight. We will probably just go to Longhorn Steakhouse because Eric is working. He can be our server. I don't know what Staci's plans are but if she's not doing anything I'm sure she'll come with us.

We're supposed to hit fifty today, but back to the low twenties again this weekend :mad:

 

I was in Rockford last weekend for a convention and people from out of state were standing in front of the piles of snow in the parking lot and taking pictures because they had never seen piles so high before :p

Absolutely gorgeous here today! Really feels like spring. The animals are all restless and the cows are very tired of hay, but they have to wait a little longer to go out to grass because there just isn't any yet! A couple more weeks and we'll be able to turn them out.

Thanks for the anniversary wishes. We went to the restaurant where Eric works. I figured maybe if he told the manager's it was our anniversary they'd give us a free dessert and that's exactly what they did but we were even more surprised after Dave gave Eric his credit card to run the bill and when he brought the check back we saw that Eric had put it through on his own credit card. We did not go there with the intention of having him buy us dinner but he insisted. We tipped him well.

 

We have been without internet on and off since about Wednesday and totally without it since Friday morning. It finally came back on about 8:00 tonight. they said it was a major outage so it wasn't a problem at our house. Hopefully it's fixed for good now but we'll just have to see. We insisted that they credit us for 3 days.
