Where to book shore excursions

Hi, I was wondering if people could tell me who they are booking their excursions with. I have gone to shoretrips.com and alaskatours.com. Has anyone used these? I always book my excursions on my own in the Caribbean, now that we are going to Alaska I am sort of lost...Help please!

I never recommend these middle men booking agents. You need to determine FIRST what tours you want- then find the vender. So look over your shore excursion list. Venders are listed also in visitor guides. http://www.traveljuneau.com http://www.skagway.com http://www.visit-ketchikan.com

Hi sandyneck - budget queen is right, you can get lots of info from those sites she listed. You can also get tons of info from searching this board. If you see an excursion or activity you like, do a search here and see what other cc'ers have done and who they booked with. Based on the visitor websites, google searches and post made by cc members, I booked the following:

Juneau - whale watching with Capt. Larry (plus we might do Mt. Roberts Tram if we have time and the energy!)

Skagway - Yukon Horseback Riding Tours (through Southeast Tours)

Ketchikan - Saxman Village & Totem Bight through Sourdough Tours

It was just as easy as booking them in the Caribbean - no sweat, you can do it! :)

Good luck!

Hi Sandyneck,

These boards are incredible. Everyone shares and that is so-o-o helpful.

Here is some info on contacting a few places.

In Juneau - whale watching with Capt. Larry at Orca Enterpises http://www.alaskawhalewatching.com 1-888-733-6722.

In Ketchikan for flightseeing, Island Wings Air Service is often recommended and can be reached at michelle@islandwings.com 1-888-854-2444.

As previously recommended just keep reviewing this Alaska board and you will find plenty of info to book tours yourself. Good luck.
