Ground transportation in Asheville

I know that this is a topic not usually asked on this board. However as a long time Cruise Critic member, and frequent contributor to this board, I need help! My son and I will be in Asheville North Carolina mid May 2012, and I need to fly home to Southern California. He will be working so I need to find ground transportation to the Charlotte or Atlanta airports. The fares from these major airports are much better than from Asheville, with much better flight times.

 

I noted that Greenville South Carolina's airport is also a possibility.

 

Any assistance on this, would be much appreciated.

Greyhound bus. Travel time to Charlotte is more direct and better than trying to get to Atlanta. Greenville is also easy to get to. Although the bus is an, ahh, interesting slice of life. Fares are cheap, though.

Rent a car in Asheville and drop it off at the airport.

Greenville is only an hour away. I think Charlotte is about two hours away.
