sharecruises Posted May 4, 2012 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2012 Well....I am back to the Tillicum Salmon Bake deal again found the "deal" for it again and I think it just sounds better than the Duck The Duck has been worrying me cause my "gang" is not quick to book and we might not be seated together, not sure I want to be stuck in one place for 90 minutes etc I am used to being on intercoastal cruises and walking around, using the rest room, etc and I think I would prefer that Also I don't have time to do a Salmon "bake" in Alaska with my other stuff planned so this will take the place of that and get us all in the Alaska mood Any input about Tillicum Village Tillicum vs the Duck?? Thanks in advance
Dan G Posted May 4, 2012 #2 Share Posted May 4, 2012 you couldn't pick two more divergent attractions. The Ducks is corney and hokey and sort of fun. Tillicum has been around for ever. Great boat ride and nice dinner. Cultural stuff with natives or just explore Blake Island. Two very different things. If you got a deal on Tillicum I think its a great idea. You don't say the ages involved but assuming they are adult its the wiser choice.
twocats Posted May 31, 2012 #3 Share Posted May 31, 2012 We did the salmon bake several years back, it was one of the best tours we have done. Lots fun and the salmon was to die for. We haven't been back there but have eaten the salmon at Ivor's fish restaurant in Seattle, it was also terrific.
sharecruises Posted May 31, 2012 Author #4 Share Posted May 31, 2012 We loved Tillicum Village Just a great day.....lovely boat ride, Jim the tour guide gave many interesting facts and stories about Seattle The clams were yummy....wow the longhouse was beautiful, the salmon smelled great and tasted better! We watched them grill it Buffet was delicious, Northwestern salad, sides Very "Northwestern" just the best I enjoyed the short show and loved the gift shop, only "authentic" stuff sold there, no made in China junk Great day - don't miss this one :) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
PNW Traveler Posted May 31, 2012 #5 Share Posted May 31, 2012 Form a Seattle native and forever resident - the Tillicum Village experience is very well done and a good option for experiencing Northwest Native American culture while enjoying an excellent salmon dinner. Tillicum Village is located on Blake Island. The entire island is a state park so you can walk the beach and just enjoy the quiet. There is a dock where local boaters will tie up, but no town or houses or stores or such. There are Duck tours in many cities, but Tillicum Village is unique.
