helicopter Posted May 6, 2012 #1 Share Posted May 6, 2012 my grandson's friend is going on June 3rd cruise with us and his passport expires on 12/25/12, will this be ok for the cruise? I know there is a time that it has to be good past cruise date, just not sure what it is:confused:
momof4boys Posted May 6, 2012 #2 Share Posted May 6, 2012 That should be fine. Some foreign ports want the Passport to be valid for at least 6 months after you visit. You're going in early June and his passport expires 6 months + some days! Enjoy your trip!

galveston gal Posted May 6, 2012 #4 Share Posted May 6, 2012 Depending on where you travel, it is fine to use an expired US passport. For many of the Caribbean ports, you can use a passport as proof of citizenship for up to 10 years after expiration. You will be fine unless you are traveling outside of the Caribbean or Mexico. No longer correct. Ever since the WHTI implementation in 2009, you may not use an expired passport to travel.
jzozo Posted May 7, 2012 #6 Share Posted May 7, 2012 I would also bring a certified birth certificate with you as backup if they won't take it.
