Krazy Kruizers Posted October 16, 2013 #376 Share Posted October 16, 2013 ...and if we're including non-cruise sunrise/sets, this is my all-time favorite. Taken (again, with an iPhone) on the lake where I live, using absolutely zero touchup, no color enhancing, no nothing. This was one of those sunsets where you call your neighbors out to look, it was amazing. Photo didn't do it justice. It is beautiful!!
Krazy Kruizers Posted October 16, 2013 #377 Share Posted October 16, 2013 The sun was out yesterday -- so I got a couple of fall shots.
Krazy Kruizers Posted October 16, 2013 #378 Share Posted October 16, 2013 Me? Yes, the top one was taken in February on the NCL Star, and the bottom one was taken February 2012 on the NCL Spirit. Both taken with my iPhone. :) Just got my Nikon 5200 in May, can't wait to take it on the NCL Sun in four months!! I've had a lot to learn since my Canon AE1P days... First camera I had was a Brownie -- then a Poloroid -- then a Canon AE 1. I don't have any of the new fancy iPhones, etc.
subtchr Posted October 16, 2013 #379 Share Posted October 16, 2013 Beautiful shots in this thread! Not from a ship, but the following sunset was about a month ago from the top of a high school stadium where I was volunteering at a band event all day. It was a lovely sight to break up the evening! Rare mitsugirly Posted October 18, 2013 #382 Share Posted October 18, 2013 Although I wish these were a little clearer, I still like them since they're not your normal shot of just the sunset. We were pulling out a lot later than scheduled in Cozumel last December and 3 other ships (Carnivals and Oasis) pulled out from the Puerta Maya pier (we were docked at Punta Langosta) and I caught them all going by. Although not a sunset, this was the first time I was able to catch a rainbow in port...Cozumel once again.

zackiedawg Posted October 18, 2013 #384 Share Posted October 18, 2013 Here's another, closeup detail from my one and only sunrise this year: And here's a sunSET from the same trip in Disney World - It's a birding shot, but also a sunset shot - as I wanted to capture the silhouette of the landing bird with the sunset sky:

TexasCPA Posted October 19, 2013 #386 Share Posted October 19, 2013 I took this from our ship balcony on 12/12/2008 - the last night of a 33 day transatlantic cruise on Grand Princess. Since this is a larger size, you can really tell the limitations of the shooter and the camera. There's lot of ISO grain and not a little camera shake that even the VR cannot solve. At a smaller print size however (up to 8x10), it looks OK. I still keep it as one of my screensavers on my home computer. While it doesn't hold up to some of my more recent work, it's not too bad either. The reason I have this up -- we happened to have reasonably calm seas that particular evening so if you look closely you can see a cool flowing effect in the moonlight reflected on the sea from the 1.6 second exposure. It's certainly not publication quality, but I like it. :) Nikon D80 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 G VR Aperture Priority - f/3.5, 1.6 seconds, ISO 400, 18mm

TexasCPA Posted October 21, 2013 #390 Share Posted October 21, 2013 Taken in Sept 2013, on our last night of a 14 day RT Vancouver on the Sapphire Princess. I was messing around with my wife's D5200 and came up with this...a little more grainy than I usually like, but a nice memory. :) Nikon D5200 Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 Manual - ISO 200, f/13, 1/160 (Some Noise Cleaned Up/Shadow Recovery With Photo Ninja)

TexasCPA Posted October 21, 2013 #393 Share Posted October 21, 2013 Very nice...love the look of that sun in the distance breaking through overcast skies.
