Help please last minute booking...

Recommended Posts

Hi there!

I decided today to book the 5 day out of Boston leaving July 2 and feel pretty overwhelmed as I am not a last minute person!!! We will be flying in on June 30th and have never ever been to Boston. Would like to stay somewhere that's convenient to tour the sites as we will not have a car. Looking to be as frugal :D as possible but, WILL NOT stay at a crappy hotel. So, maybe $150 a night budget wise...

Also, can you provide some suggestions on attractions for my son (14) & I (36) to tour?

Thanks, for the help!

BTW - I know this is pretty strange but, we don't need any suggestions on seafood (both are allergic).

Do not delay in booking a hotel. This is the beginning of the 4th of July extravaganza in Boston.

1) Hotwire - Waterfront area - $153 - this is highly likely to be the Westin Waterfront and if not the Seaport. Very close to the pier and the airport. The "T" is one long block away. To save money you can take the Silver Line "T" bus from the airport to this stop and walk to the hotel for $4. You can also take the "T" to Black Falcon, but a cab isn't that much more expensive. You can also take the "T" to South Station and transfer to get to other area like Back Bay and Quincy Market.

2) aa.com - Westin Waterfront for $157.05 - better cancellation options.

3) Boston Park Plaza on hotels.com - $153 - A more central location, but you will pay more in cab fares to get there.

These are definitely not crappy hotels.

Thanks, for the info!!!

Can you tell me what area things like Freedom Trail, Cheers, Beacon Hill, Boston Public Library, Boston Common & Copley Square? Will they be far from the Westin? Would the Boston Park Plaza be more convenient? As I said I'm totally new to Boston but, looking forward to all of it :)

Kind of interested in seeing Harvard if possible...that might be a real treat for my son!

Thanks, Again!!!

Freedom Trail starts at Boston Common and goes east towards Quincy Market, the North End, and over to the Constitution in Charlestown. Beacon Hill is on the north side of the Boston Common. Boston Public Library and Copley Square are in Back Bay. The Boston Park Plaza is more centrally located - you can walk west to the Copley area from there or over to the Common. It's close to the Arlington St. station on the Green Line. The Westin Waterfront is south of downtown near the pier. If you don't mind spending more $$$ on cab fares, then go with the Park Plaza.

Yeah, I'm not getting anything for my LNF trick for the Marriott Copley Place, unfortunately. However, if you can get the Westin Waterfront for $157.05 on AA.com, try for a Best Rate Guarantee claim thru the Starwood site here: http://www.starwoodhotels.com/bestrate/claimForm.html - you can get an extra 10% off, or 2000 SPG points.

This hotel is a great location for your needs. It's close to the cruise terminal, and you can get the Old Town Trolley nearby I believe: http://www.trolleytours.com/boston/day-tour-boston-mass.asp, which gives you 2 days' touring and a harbor cruise on the same ticket.

When booking on the AA.com website...what are the cancellation policies? It wasn't too clear too me. It said 24 hours will be 1 nights room fee...does that mean anytime b4 24 hours there is no penalty? Also, do you pay upfront?

Good question. I read it to mean you can cancel any time up to 24 hours before 12 noon of your reservation date but I honestly don't know. The wording is not 100% clear.

Thought it was just me....I'm waiting to see if Starwood will price match +10% so, it may not matter.

Thanks, Again!

THEY DENIED MY CLAIM...

"the competing rate you submitted is only available for residents of the U.S., Canada, Virgin Islands, and Puerto*Rico to book. If you do not live in these countries, you cannot book on the competing website. AA.com is therefore ineligible under the terms and conditions of the Best Rate Guarantee Program. As this rate is not eligible for the Best Rate Guarantee, I am unable to approve your claim."

Any other suggestions on how to get approved?

We will be back from the Glory before you leave and I will post an update. We are staying Westin Waterport pre and post. My PVP recommended Ned Devines for the Chicken Nachos at Faneil.

We are planning on Flour Bakery seen on Foodnetwork near Westin. I have found a free Harvard tour and Boston tour.

My son is 16 and Im 41 so our interests might be similair.
