FOS smoking

Do they have areas in the bars that are smoke free. Just wondering if they separate some areas for the non smokers.

Thanks

Some bars are all smoke free, such as Champagne Bar and Vintages. Some are smoking and non-smoking, such as the pub on the Promenade. Can't recall if Schooner is smoke free or if there is a smoking section.

It seems to vary from ship to ship, even for the same class ship. On the Voyager OTS, the English pub on deck 5 was non-smoking. On the Mariner OTS, smoking is allowed (and you can smell it drifting into the main Promenade sometimes).

My two trips on the Freedom the Champagne Bar, Schooner Bar, Boleros, and the Pub were non smoking. There is a designated cigar lounge called the Connoisseur Club on Deck 5. Smoking was also allowed in one section of the Viking Crown Lounge, and the Sky Bar outside above the pool deck was a smoking bar.

RCCL are considered non-smoking ships, that allow smoking in some areas and those areas are limited. Not all ships are the same, but some common areas are part of the casino, 1 or 2 clubs, and only in a section, and on a outside deck on one side, usually on the second floor of the deck. Plus on private balconies.

This is how it was on both of my previous Freedom cruises as well. The Crypt also is smoking. Not sure if all or part because we only walked through it once.

You're right. I kinda forgot about the Crypt as I'm not into the dance scene myself but I do recall the odor wafting out every once in awhile into the Schooner Bar as people went in & out of the Crypt.

As a non-smoker, the bar(s) I am most upset about having to "give up" is the Pool Bar AND Sky Bar! One of my favorite activites late on sea days was to hang out at one of these 2 spots and make new friends. But ..... NO MORE. Wall to wall smokers and apparently there is a 2 pack minimum!! :D

The last ship I was on was the Liberty. I have heard, as with so many things RCI that this is not the same on all the ships. I can only hope that one of these spots have been given back to us non-smokers!

The Freedom was one of the most restrictive ships I've been on (not that many!) Not saying it's good or bad, but it seems to be more restrictive then other ships. I agree with what everyone else said-but to add there was smoking allowed around the bar at the Viking Crown lounge....I seem to remember that maybe some of the tables as well, but I'm not sure. I am a smoker () and while it was restrictive, we still felt we had plenty of places to go to and feed our dirty habit. The one thing I don't understand is why they allow smoking on the top deck of the pool deck only. It is so windy up there that I would imagine that it would bother more people with blowing smoke and ashes then it would if it were on the deck below that was a bit more wind protected. Again, not complaining, just an observation.

Edit-the Crypt does allow smoking on the upper level only, not downstairs around the dance floor.

I'm one of those by the sky bar!! :o Now, I'm not a 2-pack-a-dayer, but obviously I smoke more on Vacation then at home. I agree, it was literally packed daily on my Freedom cruise. I think it goes back to that deck being so windy that we wanted to prevent our ashes flying everywhere and the Sky bar offered some blockage from it. The good thing is that we met some great "smoking regulars" up there, but I'm sure that we missed some very nice people that were avoiding that area like the plague!!!!

Did Boleros change the policy after drydock upgrade? I know our friends who stayed alot in Boleros was because of the ability to smoke plus they love salsa dancing too :)

Well I cruised on Freedom before and after the drydock period and there was no smoking in Boleros. I never saw any ashtrays there and that's usually the sign that a venue is non smoking. The only other possibilty I can think of is the lounge area that was across from Boleros on the other side of the stairs may have been a smoking part of Boleros.

I will check with our friends. They stay there MOST of the time and I am almost positive she said that her husband could smoke there. Will post back after I talk to Isabel :)
