Elizanessie Posted May 31, 2012 #1 Share Posted May 31, 2012 I have heard that smoking is no longer allowed in the Disco on the Indy and instead is only allowed in the connisseurs club and outside places now...has anyone been on the Indy in the last few weeks who can confirm this change please ? Thanks
ellyg1824 Posted May 31, 2012 #2 Share Posted May 31, 2012 I've got to admit I'm a smoker and I was on the Indy in October and although it was a novelty to smoke on the upstairs level of the Nightclub while having a beer it was only when I left I realised that i smelled like an ashtray more than ever. I don't even smoke inside my own home so I think it is a great idea. Even though they only allowed it on the top level it was very unfair to non-smokers as the smoke drifts downstairs anyway. Thanks Liz, that's exactly how it was on our April cruise on Indy which was a bit of a nightmare when we hit the hurricane in Biscay and we couldn't access the outside areas!!! :D :mad:I do wish people wouldn't wade in with unhelpful comments, if they can't answer the question or give some positive advice they really should keep quiet! Gill I would be great if they have made some changes on the ship. The last time we sailed on Indy one of the things I noticed was that it seemed like a smoking fest everywhere. I'm hoping next March will be different. Now, is my comment acceptable or not?;)

True, but you've been around long enough to know what happens when someone asks a smoking related question.

Gilpet Posted June 1, 2012 #15 Share Posted June 1, 2012 Just to confirm......the ONLY place where smoking is aloud inside Indy (when sailing from Southampton!) is the cigar lounge situated by the entrance to the Pyramid Lounge. The only other smoking areas are outside. Gill

europeguys Posted July 23, 2012 #18 Share Posted July 23, 2012 Hi Liz, thanks for posting that. I was wondering about the same thing as we will cruise on Indy in October. As I am quite a heavy smoker as well it is very helpful to know now where i Can (and can not) smoke. It´s a while ago that we have cruised on RCCL as we did a few on Princess and HAL. Unfortunatly Princess banned smoking on stateroom balconies so we moved away from them back to RCCL. Luckily I can smoke there on my suite balcony :). On HAL there were a couple of smoking areas inside but ..... who knows how long these will stay!! So at least now i konw RCCL has changed a lot with the smoking areas and I will have to go out again a lot in the evenings. But guess we just need to cope with it as smokers :(
celticfc Posted July 23, 2012 #19 Share Posted July 23, 2012 Was on Indy last 2 weeks in June and confirm its defo no smoking in the nightclub. Which is a real shame for smokers as there is now only the CC. However the Nightclub hasnt been invaded from all of the non smokers desperate to dance but couldnt because of the smoke, as the nightclub was more or less empty for the 2 weeks!!! In saying that there was plenty of chat and great atmosphere out on Deck 4 however must be hurting revenues for RCI as smokers are now drinking less as they keep nipping outside for a cig and then get caught up chatting and sit for a while longer. UNV-IT!!! Posted July 23, 2012 #20 Share Posted July 23, 2012 Makes me happy about the no smoking in the club. I don't smoke, but I hang out in the club a lot and hated having to breath in the cigg smoke. I don't mind having designated areas for people to smoke on board. I just think it should be dedicated to one bar somewhere inside and some place outside.

Which it revises when it comes over to the States. The nightclub has never been a busy place on European sailings so you could be dancing alone if sailing here............lol

pltag Posted July 24, 2012 #23 Share Posted July 24, 2012 I just think it should be dedicated to one bar somewhere inside and some place outside. It's the "some place outside" that I have a problem with. My last cruise (Liberty ...... I think), smokers were given BOTH the Pool Bar, and the Sky Bar. They took full advantage as there was seemingly a 3 pack 'minimum' :D !!! The areas were unuseable for the rest of us, taking away one of my fav cruise activities ....... which is hangin' out late on sea days, making new friends!
