renech Posted June 16, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 16, 2012 Looking for advice about buying insurance for our upcoming cruise. I've always bought insurance in the past for our family cruises, but this time, my adult DD's boyfriend is accompanying us. Is there any problem with me including him in our insurance purchase? It just seems odd that I could possibly buy insurance for someone totally unrelated to me. Thanks for any input!
cherylandtk Posted June 17, 2012 #2 Share Posted June 17, 2012 Insurance for traveling companions is a common item, but it DOES depend on the definition used by each insurance company as to what is covered and what constitutes a traveling companion. Generally a shared booking number or a shared accomodation will do it. It protects you if he has to cancel and your DD's fare is increased due to occupancy changes, as well as protecting him for cancellation charges or medical emergencies. Rare Keith1010 Posted June 18, 2012 #4 Share Posted June 18, 2012 We purchased insurance for a non family member and that was fine. Always best to confirm this with the insurance company ahead of time just to be sure. Keith
