Best time to cruise Mediterranean

We are going to do the NCL Grand Mediterranean cruise next summer from Barcelona to Venice. We can either go mid May or early June. May not be much of a difference, but was wondering about weather and crowds. Any advice which would be better?

You might also want to factor in the airfare. Mid May might be a little cheaper for air fare becuase school is still in session.

The Med will be warm to hot depending on which port or how far inland you will venture.

Because the climate is very similar, & weather on the day can turn the theory on its head, I'd be inclined to consider other factors - have you checked which days of the week you are in port, any local public holidays, kids' mid-term breaks, airfare & cruise price differences ?
