I know that on cruises departing and returning to the same port in the US, you are not required to have a passport. A notorized birth certificate, and laminated ID will work. Just to double check-- with a married couple--- the wife's birth certificate obviously has the maiden name, and the booking info, and ID has the married name. Is that all cool, or do you have to have the marriage license, or something, too????

Some gals have been asked for a bridging document.

When I used my BC & DL I had no problems because my name on my DL similar to Jane Doe Smith not Jane Anne Smith.

I'm not sure what a notorized BC is? The BC needs to be a certified copy from the government agency in your area. This could be county or state. It cannot be the cute hospital souviner record.

The ID needs to be compliant with the current laws, so a DL or state issued ID will work.

For peace of mind on closed loop cruises you can get a passport card. Or better yet get a passport book.
