GROUCHPUSS Posted June 20, 2012 #5 Share Posted June 20, 2012 They have some nice caverns and rock formations that are at 20 - 40 feet.
needabreakcanada Posted June 20, 2012 Author #6 Share Posted June 20, 2012 20 - 40 ft wow. I don't think I will make it down that far with snorkel gear. Hoping to take some nice fish etc picks from a little further up. But its vacation - so you never know;)
FlaParrotHead Posted June 20, 2012 #7 Share Posted June 20, 2012 For Scuba, Eden rock is great if your shore time is short and/or you also want to shop or do other things in the city. The surf at the entry to the water can be tough on the inexperienced or weak - it all depends on the wind. It's not a bad snorkel trip given that the visibility is usually 75'+ most of the year. Some of the coral formations are high and you can see some nice sights. Unless you really know where to go on the reef, having a guide would make sense for a snorkeler since the guides generally will get you to the right places and help you in and out of the water. Oh, as mentioned, this is in Georgetown, Grand Cayman - not Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Otherwise your shots will not work well. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Sargent_Schultz Posted June 20, 2012 #9 Share Posted June 20, 2012 There is also Abanks Diving located at the Paradise Restaurant which is a little closer and I think a lot easier entrance for shore snorkeling. http://abanksdivers.com.ky/ The restaurant feeds the huge tarpon, so they tend to congregate in the area. needabreakcanada Posted June 21, 2012 Author #10 Share Posted June 21, 2012 Yes I stand corrected it is GC and not Ocho. Looking forward to it - Hubby is a slow but strong swimmer - I am a little limited in my swimming due to a shoulder injury - but can breast stroke no problem. Should be ok? helen haywood Posted June 21, 2012 #11 Share Posted June 21, 2012 At Eden Rock there is a ladder into the ocean. You would be standing up in 3 or 4 feet of water at the base of the ladder....and you could just bend at the waist and see fish right at the base of the ladder!! You can see more if you swim further out....but that's what is so great about Eden Rock if you are a beginner or don't like to get too far from shore.
