Ocho Rios Eden Rock Diving Centre

Recommended Posts

Anyone ever used Eden Rock Diving Centre for a guided snorkel tour for one hour?

Was wondering how it was - never snorkeled before.

Posted on port side but no answers.

Thanks

I think Eden Rock is in George Town in the Caymans. I have dove right from their dive shop it is a pretty nice dive.

Here is their web site

For Scuba, Eden rock is great if your shore time is short and/or you also want to shop or do other things in the city. The surf at the entry to the water can be tough on the inexperienced or weak - it all depends on the wind. It's not a bad snorkel trip given that the visibility is usually 75'+ most of the year. Some of the coral formations are high and you can see some nice sights.

Unless you really know where to go on the reef, having a guide would make sense for a snorkeler since the guides generally will get you to the right places and help you in and out of the water.

Oh, as mentioned, this is in Georgetown, Grand Cayman - not Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

20 - 40 ft wow.

I don't think I will make it down that far with snorkel gear.

Hoping to take some nice fish etc picks from a little further up.

But its vacation - so you never know;)

If shooting down from the surface, make sure you are filming toward the coral formations and not a sandy area (there are lots at Eden Rock) ... Otherwise your shots will not work well.

At Eden Rock there is a ladder into the ocean. You would be standing up in 3 or 4 feet of water at the base of the ladder....and you could just bend at the waist and see fish right at the base of the ladder!! You can see more if you swim further out....but that's what is so great about Eden Rock if you are a beginner or don't like to get too far from shore.
