All can easily be walked and many streets are closed to traffic.:)
Marebear Posted June 23, 2012 #3 Share Posted June 23, 2012 We walked off the ship and there were plenty of drivers. We negotiated a fee with one of the drivers and he took us to the Dalmation coast and to a marvelous restaurant for lunch, then dropped us off at the wall of the city where we had several hours to walk, etc.. We then got a shuttle bus back to the ship. It was a wonderful day!
Don P Posted June 24, 2012 #4 Share Posted June 24, 2012 It would be helpful to know what you paid for this service. We walked off the ship and there were plenty of drivers. Marebear Posted June 24, 2012 #5 Share Posted June 24, 2012 It would be helpful to know what you paid for this service. If I remember correctly, it was $50.00 per person - there were three of us! It was three tears ago!
Floridiana Posted June 24, 2012 #6 Share Posted June 24, 2012 If there is a shuttle bus to the old city, I would take that and then walk there. It is a medieval walled city where I don't remember seeing vehicles other than for delivery. If you need transportation because you are unable to walk, you may have to find out what kind of vehicle is permitted in such circumstances. CAG Posted June 24, 2012 #7 Share Posted June 24, 2012 Just a word of advice, make sure you have your passport with you when you leave the ship in Dubrovnik. They come on board the shuttle bus to check for them before they allow the bus to leave the gated area of the port. If you do not have it, they make you leave the bus and walk back to the ship. On our maiden voyage of Riviera, it was not a short walk back to the ship from the checkpoint. Not that I had to do the walk but someone most of knows did.
