douchermansusan Posted May 9, 2005 #1 Share Posted May 9, 2005 We arrive in Anchorage/Seward at 7am Friday 6/10. It appears we can't count on getting off the ship until 10am for planning purposes. What are our options for things to do from 10am until 11pm that evening when we have to be at the airpoort? We want to make the most of our time as it will be our first and last visit to Anchorage. thanks
GlacierLady Posted May 9, 2005 #2 Share Posted May 9, 2005 Anchorage and Seward are 125 miles/3 hours away from each other. You will need to find a way to get to Anch for your flight.Lots of things to do in both.I suggest Exit Glacier and Sealife center as top 2 choices in Seward. Also as a heads up there will be 3 ships in Seward on 6/10 so expect massive amounts of people at the cruise ship dock that morning!
JohnQ Posted May 9, 2005 #3 Share Posted May 9, 2005 Wow, we've never seen more than one on our four trips to Seward! Where do they "park" the other two? Do they tender their or take turns?
GlacierLady Posted May 9, 2005 #4 Share Posted May 9, 2005 There is room,no tendering.1 on each side of the terminal/dock and the 3rd is next dock over, towards the east.Every other Friday we have 2 in(Statendam/Summit) and have 3 ships in at the same time twice this year.6/10 and 8/19.What a huge mess at the terminal on those mornings with just 2 ,so to throw another in is not that big of deal.<rollin eyes> The 2 extras aren't regulars. Budget Queen Posted May 10, 2005 #5 Share Posted May 10, 2005 In Seward you can be off the ship very early, by 7am if you choose. But I do suggest you consider an early morning and perhaps a Kenai Fjords boat tour? But a factor you didn't seem to realize- the transfer between Seward and Anchorage??? Decide this FIRST. I suggest you consider a one way car rental Seward/Anchorage with Hertz. Will run about $200/day but without it, you will be leaving Seward via ship transport and no time for Seward. You do not have time for the regular run of the RR. Once you decide then plan your day.
