We will be on the Crown for the cruise that starts in rome and ends in venice. Can anyone tell me should we book shore excursions for all the ports and how is the food on the crown?

cruis n nonna do you have a pizza place close to you that you and your friends go to? I bet if you asked each and everyone of them what they thought of that restaurant you would get many different answers. Well same with cruise ship food. Everyone has different tastes so for some it's going to be great and others not so great. I can tell you that you will never go hungry and you will find some dishes that are great and some that are so so. As far as tours only you can decide that. You can go on the Princess web site and read about the tours offered and the prices. If you do sign up for a cruise and go on the roll call for that cruise you might hook up with fellow cruisers that are hiring private tour guides that you might join. Usually they are much cheaper than the cruise ship tours. Only down side would be if the private tour guide does not get you back to the ship on time you are on your own to find tranportation to the next port to pick up your ship. What ever you do have fun planning.

Assuming the galley crew hasn't changed since April we considered the food to be very good. I have had better desserts on other Princess ships but there desserts were quite passable and typically Princess.
