The only Princess ships with a dining room on deck 5 aft are the Ocean and the Pacific.
And Golden Princess, Grand Princess, Caribbean Princess,Coral Princess (but forward instead of aft) and probably several others. But the dining room for embarkation lunch is usually on deck 6. On Grand Princess they even had a sign indicating which dining room served lunch and directions to get there.

We boarded the Star 2 Sundays ago. We were in our cabin by 12:15, so we probably got to the dining room (Portofino 6f atrium) around 12:20. We sat near the window and saw people boarding. The table next to us was eventually filled with 4 people. There couldn't have been more than 5 tables seated in the entire dining room in that 1.5 hours. It was a very quiet and relaxing place to have lunch. We got back to our room around 2pm and saw that my sister had boarded the ship, so we went to the Horizon Court to look for her. We found them, but it was a zoo at the buffet. They had better choices in food, but the lines were so long!!!

So if you do board the ship early, having lunch in the dining room is a great way to start your cruise.

If your on the ship before noon it's defitnely better option to eat in the Horizon. It's always decent food, no waiting to get served or seated & you'll be finished much quicker giving you a chance to unpack the suitcases before muster and sail away rather than killing over an hour eating in the DR. We often grab a slice of pizza, and make a salad to go with it. Then we eat it out on the open deck somewhere. I have never really been too much of a hot food person at lunch and neither of us enjoy steam table food, so we really look for lunch somewhere each day where we can have some greens. :)
