Breakfast and Lunch on board

I'm not sure that's true on every ship. We've sometimes taken desserts back to the cabin when it was to much to finish and they'll even wrap it in aluminum foil for you. On the Crown and Grand Princess past cruises they delivered dining room entree's to you cabin so there was no need to carry it yourself.

 

On some ships, even when they wrapped it like that they insisted on delivering it to the cabin instead of letting me take it.

I'm not sure why they don't like people from taking food from the restaurant unless they don't want to create a line like take out restaurants. It couldn't be for heath reasons since it's allowed in the Horizon. Weird.
