Pizza near Grande Denali Lodge

Read somewhere that there is a good place to get a pizza near the Grande Denali Lodge. Anyone know anything about this place? How far, walkable?

The grande Denali lodge is at the top of a very steep hill a bit over 1 km from glitter gulch. There is a shuttle service but I don't know the schedule. All the reviews say a car is a good idea if staying there.

We stayed at the Grande Denali and had a car although found the shuttle more convenient when just going to glitter gulch where most of the vendors are. We really liked Prospector Pizza. Lynx Creek Pizza at the Denali Princess Lodge was marginal.

Did you take the free shuttle to Prospectors Pizzeria? How far is it from the Grande Denali Lodge? Sounds like we would like this better than the restaurant at the Lodge. Did you eat there at all?

We agree that Prospector Pizza was really good. We walked over to it and it was no more then a 10 - 15 minute walk from the main lodge at Princess Denali Lodge.

We actually stopped at Prospector Pizza on the way back from a rafting trip and had our car. The lodge may know if the shuttle drops there. As for the lodge restaurant, I had a good burger there but we used it more for the cold beer and the fantastic view.

We're not at the Princess Denali Lodge, we're up the hill at the Grande Denali Lodge. Was there a long wait to get a seat?

Which would you recommend the burger with the view or the pizza? We will only be at the Grande Denali Lodge one night.

That gets pretty subjective. My choice would be the view and a short crawl back to the room after all the cold beer and after a long day of exploring. Tripadvisor is a good place for reviews as well.

 

The good thing about this decision is that it can be made last minute. Nice to have some options ready though.

We haven't driven down to the park yet this summer, but generally are there every summer. We have had a number of meals at the Denali Grande, and have always been pleased. They have a great view from their deck, and on a nice evening it is very enjoyable sitting outside.

The website for prospectors pizza says they have a free shuttle just call them. They also have free delivery so you could stay and watch the view while waiting for and then eating a pizza. The website also has a menu and lots more info.

When we went to the restaurant we had a 20 minute wait for a table. That was at dinner time. The service was great and so was the pizza's that we had. Oh and the beer was good also.
