rsdroid Posted July 12, 2012 #1 Share Posted July 12, 2012 I have an upcoming 7 day Caribbean cruise on the Mariner and am currently booked in 8690 corner aft, my very first balcony! :D However, it appears that 1690 is available still. I've been wondering if I should consider switching to 1690 or stick with my corner aft on Deck 8? Any opinions on which would be better? Thanks!! Price difference isn't an issue. OHCruisin Posted July 12, 2012 #2 Share Posted July 12, 2012 I would move to 1690. You will still be aft and the balcony will be about the same size. Plus, you will have much better views on deck 10 than you will on deck 8. Don't get me wrong, I've stayed in deck 7 cabins. I love almost any aft. But in this case I would grab 1690. Puffinater Posted July 12, 2012 #3 Share Posted July 12, 2012 All the lower deck aft balconies can be looked into from the balconies above. The corners a bit less than the others. I would go with 1690. You will get a nice deep balcony with 1690. Either way I am sure you will enjoy the cabin and the view.
Camlott Posted July 12, 2012 #4 Share Posted July 12, 2012 For us, I would never take a deck 8 or 9 aft cabin. I don't really enjoy a balcony that I will get to know all the neighbors above us. For some people privacy isn't an issue. For us, we prefer not to be on show. 1690 gets my vote, unless 7688/7388 were open and there were just two of us sailing. Galveston Cruiser Posted July 13, 2012 #6 Share Posted July 13, 2012 Love 7688 and 7388 - No one above sees into the HUGE balcony. We have had one of these cabins on most of our cruises and have them booked on our next 4 cruises. And the balcony is usable in most weather conditions.
