gred1994 Posted July 14, 2012 #1 Share Posted July 14, 2012 So we leave tomorrow on the Legend, and I rolled a bunch of change yesterday. Two questions: I found $15 worth of one dollar coins. Is it tacky to use those or room service tips? I rolled $30 worth of quarters. Can you use those in the casino? One last bonus question: if my children were to die or get in an accident before their random phone call from us, could my parents cll Carnival and get a message tous??? Ve never left them for a week before... TIA!
MrPete Posted July 14, 2012 #2 Share Posted July 14, 2012 Eek! Get better thoughts in your head! Yes, there are many ways to contact a shop. Should be some contact info right in your docs. And as far as heavy coins as tips, think about it. But they'll never refuse them.

grozas Posted July 14, 2012 #5 Share Posted July 14, 2012 All casinos - even land based ones - have not used coins for years and years. I understand why, BUT, the sound of a reciept printing out does not come close to the sound and sight of those coins hitting that tray. Oh well. CapeCodCruiser Posted July 14, 2012 #6 Share Posted July 14, 2012 Americans are very anti-coin. In Europe there is no such thing as a 1 Euro bill, just a coin which is widely used as a tip. Use your dollar coins - the crew will appreciate them just as much as a bill.
meatloafsfan Posted July 14, 2012 #7 Share Posted July 14, 2012 There is the quarter pusher machine in the casino that you can use the quarters for. The slot machines though don't take change. Leave the $1 coins at home or go exchange them at the bank for $1 bills. The coins aren't used very often, won't go through a vending machine and are difficult to spend in foreign countries. Emergency contact for the ship (from the Carnival FAQs): Friends and family may call guests on board via Sea Mobile Shore-to-Ship telephone service. The rate is $9.50 per minute from the United States; additional long distance charges may apply from outside the United States. 1-877-CCLSHIP (1-877-225-7447) – from the U.S 1-732-335-3284 - from outside the U.S The caller needs to have available the ship name and the guest's name. The charges will be applied to the caller's credit card: MasterCard; Visa; American Express; The Discover Card; Diner's Club.
babs125 Posted July 14, 2012 #8 Share Posted July 14, 2012 The casino still has the coin sorter machine at the cashier and they will take your coins except for the pennies. I did it recently. Have fun.
