Favorite class of the ships.

Have only sailed 2 Conquest class & 2 spirit class so far. We are booked on a Dream class this year, so don't know yet about that one. The fanasy class seem to small for us, not enough balconies. Of the 2 classes we have sailed I prefer the spirit class, but still would choose a Conquest class over a smaller ship.

Our favorite is the Destiny/TriumphConquest Class. Tried the Dream and didn't like it at all.

same here

conquest class hands down, the valor and the liberty is my best ship ever from all the ship in the other cruise lines as well!!

spirit was nice thought, ecstacy was too small and weird old looking deco.

I hated the dream class, too big, too crowed, not quite nice as valor. I took a brave from ccl because of this cruise, but now im back;)

but like others state, as long as its a carnival ship

I like smaller ships, so fantasy class is my favorite. Less people, less lines. Easy to get around. As you can tell by my signature..... I am a Fantasy class fanatic!!!

It looks like that's the only class you've sailed! :p Or are those just the only ones you chose to list?

Amateur cruiser here. Would love someone to explain the different classes. Is it specifically about the layout of the floors. For example, does every ship in the Spirit class have identical blueprints?

I think the basic blueprint is the same within class of ship. The decor will be quite different from ship to ship in same class. Also the upgrades will make it diferent. I am no expert tho, so hopefully someone else with more knowledge will answer this.

I have been on Fantasy class, Destiny/Triumph/Conquest class and Dream class. My favorite is Dream class by far.

My buddies have been on Fantasy class, Destiny/Conquest class and Spirit class and their favorite is Spirit class by far.

We will all sail on Breeze next year and I will see how my buddies compare Spirit class to Dream class.

I also would like to know the difference and what critera makes you pick a favorite. I've been on the Triumph and will be going on the Glory.

The general layout of the Triumph and the Glory will be the same. The Glory is longer in length.

Fantasy class is smaller and has pools in the back in an open area.

Destiny class has only the Destiny. When first built, it was the largest cruise ship afloat. It has a tiered area starting on the Lido Deck where there are lounge chairs. The pool in the rear has a sliding cover over it that can be closed in bad weather.

Triumph class includes the Victory and has one more deck added. It is basically a Destiny class with another deck added.

The Spirit class is narrower than the others allowing it to go through the Panama Canal. Lots of people prefer this class because of less crowding.

Conquest Class is longer than the Destiny/Triumph class yet follows basically the same layout. The buffet has two areas instead of one.

Dream class is longer yet but has changed the layouts on the Lido deck and eliminated the tiered areas. It has two areas for the buffet then an open pool in the rear. The Lido pool area can get real crowded when an activity is being held. They have a prominade deck that sticks out from the ship on deck 3. Anyone walking on that deck can look up into the balconies on the next few decks up. It also blocks being able to look directly down and see the ocean from the balconies.

What makes us pick a favorite is the tiered areas around the Lido deck pool. We like the Destiny/Triumph/Conquest class because they are large but not so large that they are overcrowded like the Dream class.

We've sailed several classes but have come to love the Spirit class. The layout and ship design is very conducive to good movement around for passengers. Nice promenade on the Atlantic deck (Legend) has a degree of enjoyment and lots of deck space. The Triumph was the worst ship we have been on in terms of layout. Just could not get from point A on the ship to Point B wihout a major rerouting of the lines of travel.Glory was OK but the crowd seemed a bit large. Have ridden through 4 significant storms and into 1 hurricane on Sprirt class ships. You knew you were in a storm, but the rides were tolerable. We sailed the "Atlantic swell" (and the back end of 1 hurricane) on several Fantasy class ships-- and you knew that swell was there!

The lower Atlantic promenade layout on the Legend (ability to circle the ship walking)has always been enjoyable, quiet and relaxing part of the ship and a bit off the beaten path for us.

To some extent there is a bit of trial and error in finding the class you like the best. When shopping for cruises we do spend time checking deck layouts. Layout , overall ship size, cabin location and ammenities, and passenger capacities are real choices. We've gravitated to the Spirit class when making a selection as we have a comfort level with them.We have no burning desire to do mega ships.

We ran into noise problems with the Glory's design. Once had a nice room over the casino. Not noise from the casino itself- but from a vocalist providing entertainment there every night late in the evening and for a week we learned every song Otis Redding ever composed. After several days of complaining we were able to get relocated to another room. We became very selective from then on in choosing where we located on the ship- we want no activity below- above or on either side of a cabin.

We're pretty well finished with the Fantasy class. Architecture and engneering design seemed to have dated that class. Outside decks are for the most part stricly limited to the top. Very few balcony cabin options. Always seemd to be major pedestrian traffic jams around the shopping areas of that class. From a safety standpoint I have always been wary of a ship design whose lifeboats are high on the superstructure. Seems a recipe for major problems. In all fairness I am not aware of any significant safety problems that have occured on that class (exception the Miami fire on the Ecstacy in the late 90's?) All that said our early cruising in the 90's was done on Fantasy class ships and we have many fond memories of those cruises. Fantasy class to me seemed to be an experiment of how to move architecturally from the age of liners to the age of cruising. It was a brilliant class design move by Carnival at the time but I think thier time has passed.

We like the spirit class because it is so easy to navigate plus because of it's size it has less people.

We're going on Freedom next January which is the same class as Valor & Liberty (which we have sailed) so we do know what to expect and will have to "re-learn" how to navigate it.

The last 3 years we've been on Miracle twice and Legend once.

As of now, Spirit class is still my favorite...I love the open aft Lido. But now that they ruined those with the Serenity areas, I am hoping the Breeze becomes my new favorite! Will let you know after Nov;):p

Won't sail the smaller ships...I must have my balcony;)

I really like the Conquest size & layout. We have sailed on Conquest & Valor a total of 3 times & we feel most at home on them....so much so that we are sailing on Conquest once again next year.

Some of the reasons why I like that class of ship is, they have enough 'extra's' to keep you busy on sea days, the dining options are great, it's large enough that you rarely feel it is crowded with 3000+ passengers on board & motion issues are rarely a problem. Went through a tropical depression off the coast of Belize on Valor a few years ago & even though we had an aft cabin on that cruise, the ship was large enough & stable enough to prevent me from getting a major case of queezy.
