Port of Miami handicap parking

I had the same question as well. I emailed the POM and the response was as follows:

1. Park in a designated spot if one is available

2. If no designated spot is available, park anywhere in the lot ( there is more than one lot).

3. When you leave, show your I.D. card from the ship that states when you cruised. Also, have your I.D. ready.

4. Make sure that you have your handicapped sticker, placard, or whatever handy.

This should get you free parking.

Disabled parking in all the terminal parking facilities at the Port of Miami is free. However, in order for the parking fees to be waived, appropriate documentation must be provided to the Toll Attendant upon exiting the parking garage.

  • Disabled Parking Checklist / Required Documents

____ State Issued: Driver's License/I.D. Card/Passport

____ Original Parking Sales Receipt/Parking Ticket Stub (No Copies)

____ Authentic Disability Placard/Permanent Disability License Plate

____ Proof of Sailing (Sailing Card or Original Purchased Ticket Issued from the Cruise Line)

____ Letter/Card from DMV-(Dept. of Motor Vehicles) signifying who the Disability Placard is Assigned to (NOTE:

applies to states that do not have a Driver's License # on placard!)

Thanks so much for this info. I recently had surgery on one knee and am having replacement on the other in a month or 2. In the meantime I have a disability placard due to use of cane and distance difficulties. This info will allow us to use this service.

I thought I saw there was free parking for handicap at the Port of Miami terminal, is this true? And if so, where would it be ?

Yes, in the parking garages. At the toll booth, if you don't have Florida handicapped plates you need to show the out of state handicapped plates or hang tag, driver license of the person they're registered to and it would be a good idea to have other documentation such as the state application forms showing the doctor's authorization.
