tiff123 Posted July 18, 2012 #1 Share Posted July 18, 2012 On my last cruise, which was on NCL, our cruise critic group contacted NCL about a slot pull and NCL organized it for us. They had an announcer, took the money and everything. Does anyone know if Carnival does this as well? Alternatively, if Carnival does not help to organize it and your CC group has done this please give me tips on how you set it up. Thanks!
mondello Posted July 19, 2012 #2 Share Posted July 19, 2012 I've seen a post complaining that one leader/organizer got credit for all the slot action toward the Drinks On Us card. Other than that, most seem to enjoy the friendly action.
foxesden1 Posted July 19, 2012 #3 Share Posted July 19, 2012 we did it on RCL and it was a hoot. one person did get all the "credit" but they were so high up in points, that as the two week cruise ended she went around and gave out tons of the "free comps" they were given. hats, tees, etc from the Casino. Very kind and thoughtful. But not needed, we had SO MUCH FUN!

Rare Banditswife Posted July 19, 2012 #5 Share Posted July 19, 2012 We are thinking of doing a slot pull for our Dream cruise with our CC roll call. If I understand it correctly, everyone involved puts in a set $$ amt ($5-20), then all take turns at the same slot machine. When everyone has had their turn, any winnings are divided amoung the players. Do I have this right? Also read that the casino manager may help with prizes & comp type stuff if you contact him/her ahead of time or early in the cruise.

The one I participated in, they had all of our names on a list, took $10 from each player, and then put all the money into a machine. The casino person had a microphone and he would call us down and each of us would pull the slot machine a few times. We all gathered around and cheered as we hit a win. Once all the pulls were done, we all split the money. Only gained a few dollars but it was a fun roll call activity, good way to meet your fellow cruisers... simplelife Posted July 20, 2012 #8 Share Posted July 20, 2012 We did a slot pull on our Glory cruise with others on our roll call. The first participant put $5 in the machine and did 5 pulls; the the next one did the same and so forth until all had played. The total on the machine at the end was divided among all particpants. The payout was $5.37 each. So we were 37 cents and lots of fun to the good :)
Rare Banditswife Posted July 20, 2012 #9 Share Posted July 20, 2012 Thanks tiff123 & simplelife: it does sound like fun. I don't have many on our list yet, but we are still 3.5 months away from our cruise.

ibcnusoon Posted July 20, 2012 #12 Share Posted July 20, 2012 Please forgive my ignorance, but what is a "slot pull" and how does one organize it? I have never participated in a Slot Pull, but on my Norwegian Gem cruise in March 2013, someone from our Roll Call is coordinating it and explained it like this: A Slot Pull is where a group of passengers get together and go to the Casino together. Usually done right after the Meet and Greet onboard. Each participant pays $15.00 for entry. We put all of the cash into 1 machine. (Usually the wheel of fortune machine.) At that point we sit at a slot machine that has a max bet of $5.00. Each person gets a turn to pull the lever at Max Bet, 3 times. All of the winnings remain in the machine until everyone has had their 3 turns. We cash out at the end of everyone's turn and split the cash evenly. The $15.00 may not be accurate depending on the max bet amount of the particular machine the Casino Host wants us to use, but it will be somewhere around $12.00 or $15.00 per person. It makes for a lot of fun as we cheer on our fellow gamblers! Last year we just got our investment back, but the prior year, we each won $17.00 in addition to our initial investment.
