Shmoo here Posted July 29, 2012 #2 Share Posted July 29, 2012 We are doing a round trip Alaska cruise from Seattle departing Sept. 8th. Does anyone have suggestions on what to pack? We are in our mid 50's and won't be doing any adventurous tours. TIA Clothes that can be layered - tshirts, turtlenecks, fleeces, lightweight jackets, rain jacket. The weather in Alaska is highly variable - you need to be able to add or subtract layers as necessary. :)
KAYEF Posted July 29, 2012 #3 Share Posted July 29, 2012 Just take one article of every type of clothing you have for every season of the year................;)....then you'll be prepared. Really...............I've worn shorts in both Ketchikan and Juneau in September as well as in June. I've also worn layers in those same places in the same months! You just never know...........that's why you LAYER! You will have a wonderful time!:)
Rare Keith1010 Posted July 29, 2012 #4 Share Posted July 29, 2012 The key as others have said is to layer. I bring a fleece or you can use a sweater or sweatshirt. I also bring a water proof jacket. Bring long tops and long pants. A couple of sets of items to wear on feet whether it is walking shoes, sports shoes or one of each. A hat. Could be a baseball like cap. No one knows what the weather will be like and it can change from hour to hour. Keith
Finch85 Posted July 29, 2012 #5 Share Posted July 29, 2012 Not trying to hijack but I had a question about jeans. Do you guys ever spray any waterproofing spray on your jeans to protect against the rain? We have everything else covered...waterproof jackets and boots.
