How far is Pier 84 from our NY hotel?

We will be staying at the Intercontinental Times Square on 44th st. and are planning to do the water taxi tour which includes 911 Memorial. It leaves from Pier 84 and sounds like it's not too far from hotel. Do we take taxi or can we walk? Anyone done this before?

It's an easy walk...about a 1/2 mile. Just walk west on 44th St.
