Cricket2012 Posted August 19, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 19, 2012 On Carnival Destiny, I am booked in 8154 which was the only choice at the time, but it is near the main elevators, kind of forward, and I am worried about the noise from late night revellers. Cabins 8232 (slightly more midship), 8257, 8263, and 8265 (no cabins across the hall) have become available. - Would you change? - Is there a cost to changing (same category/price as I paid) Thanks for your advice. I don't have enough experience to know the benefits of cabin location.
SueG Posted August 19, 2012 #2 Share Posted August 19, 2012 Keep your cabin. The other cabins you mentioned will not have cabins above you. You will be fine with the noise.
Cricket2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted August 19, 2012 Thanks for your reply. I just realized that the other cabins have the pool deck above them and I have also heard about early morning noise from moving deck chairs. I think I will keep what I have, it was just a thought. Irishlinny Posted August 19, 2012 #4 Share Posted August 19, 2012 The cabins you're mentioning actually are in a different category...you're in an 8C and those are 8D's, so would cost a bit more. If I were you, I might just stay put because you have cabins above and below you, so that will keep the cabin fairly quiet. If you choose one of the others, you will be under the main Lido area and may experience more noise from above than you will experience from the hallway where you are. We often stay right near the aft elevators on ships and don't hear much noise from the hallway.
tandemcruzr Posted August 19, 2012 #5 Share Posted August 19, 2012 We've been in cabins close to the elevators 3 times on the Legend - just 2 doors away from the elevator lobby. Never had problem. We do sleep with ear plugs though. :) I'd stay where you are.
Rare Terre Posted August 19, 2012 #6 Share Posted August 19, 2012 We've never had a problem with cabins near elevators, but stay away from cabins with lounges under or over them -- music until 2:00 a.m., We have been under the Lido before and yes, you do hear those chairs being dragged all hours of the night and early morning. Stay where you are. I think you will like being close to the elevators.
Paul Bogle Posted August 19, 2012 #7 Share Posted August 19, 2012 I agree with the others. The cabin you have is in a better location as far as noise issues are concerned than the cabins you mention moving to. Elevators are an issue in many hotels but not so in our experience on a cruise ship.
Cricket2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Author #8 Share Posted August 19, 2012 Thanks everyone. Read a bad review and it had me wondering, but I'll just stick with my selection.
