When we went to the Med on a Royal Caribbean cruise they kept our passports during the whole trip. We didn't go to the Monte Carlo Casino that time but we are gong again on a Carnival cruise. Do you know if Carnival keeps your passport and if they do how do you get into the Casino wihtout it? THanks!!!

If the ship keeps your passport (in some ports which are moderately strict about immigration, this allows them to clear the ship without the need for passengers to go through the immigration procedure that you find at airports) you can retrieve it from Guest Relations & take it ashore if you wish, then return it when you get back to the ship.

Not a big deal. Yep, involves joining a line - probably at Guest Relations. But better that than everyone having to go through immigration showing their passport.

Here's a current useful thread (Baltic, but the theory is the same)
