Elite Requirement Changes??

We have been Elite status for years with Princess and it is really nothing special, other than the complimentary laundry service........

It's not anything special until you don't receive any of the perks, then you'll miss them.;)

Yes, show your cruise card and you will be escorted tothe head of the line. The down side is that some people in line seem to lear & make comments. I just wait my turn and avoid the "well wishers" so to speak.

If you have Priority Boarding, you are escorted to the Priority line. That is not always a benefit. Our last cruise on the Ocean Princess had about 650 passengers. There were 23 on the first cruise with Princess, and just over 100 with a Gold card. So there were about 525 with Priority boarding.

On our last cruise out of San Pedro there was a dedicated security scanner for Platinum/Elite/Suite. Unfortunately there were at least two other scanners and with the number of people in the priority line it was taking more than twice as long. Many people just started using the other lines. We are only Platinum but do like the free internet minutes.

Again, thanks to all who put their positive spin on my question and tried to help with my understanding of Princess Policy. I am not worried about when my husband becomes Elite or even if my husband becomes Elite; now it is just the principle of the whole thing. I am just getting pissy and I know that either my TA and the Michigan Princess Representative as well as the Captain's Circle Representative that they spoke with is far ahead of the game or dreadfully wrong.

Got a response from my TA this morning and she and (according to her) the Princess Michigan Regional Representitive are insistant that Princess has changed its policies from "completing 15 cruises or 150 days" to "completing 16 cruises or 151 days" of sailing to become Elite.

She said that she goes by what shows on her Princess TA screen and that on her Princess TA screen, the screen of the Princess Michigan Regional Representive, as well as on the computer screen of the Captain's Circle Representative the changes have been made.

So I called her to tell her what I was reading on my computer on the Princess site. I told her that you, my fellow cruisers knew nothing about Princess changing policy. There was no arguing with her about what it says on my Princess site in 2 different places that states that "upon the 16th cruise" and "upon the completion of your 15th cruise" because she and the representative say that my non TA Princess Web page has not been updated.

She is still insistant that Princess has changed requirements.

So, once again, I called Princess. Spoke to a regular agent that answered the phone. She said policy has not changed. She called the Captain's Circle and they told her nothing had or was going to change. I explained what the TA and the Princess Rep. told me, she was as confused as I was. I think I am going to just book online in the future.

Once again, I thank you for your helpful suggestions and I am going to enjoy my cruise and let the "Elite Chips" fall where they may!!

The Absolute Best platimum perk - and one that's worth actual money - is the free Internet time. But after a few more cruises, I won't mind the free Elite laundry and booze, either.

I like the priority tendering too - I like it when people give me dirty looks for going straight into line without waiting like they are :D

if there's people waiting at the tender area you do go to the back of the line, you wouldnt go to the head of the line

Wow, that's pretty impressive. And I know the small ships definitely tend towards the repeats, but I don't think either of the two I did on the Royal were anywhere near that heavy on plat+ passengers. My last cruise on the Golden, I think there were only about 500 repeat passengers of any type, and at 105 days, we made the most traveled cocktail party, so just shows it can really vary.

It appears from this that both the OP's TA and the people the TA is dealing with at Princess are probably looking at this, but completely misreading it. From what I see this totally supports that current benefit that "from" your 16th cruise on (meaning beginning with your 16th cruise) or from 151 cruise days on (understanding that if your 150th day comes in the middle of a cruise that the benefit won't begin until the next cruise) you will get the benefit. So it follows that you have completed 15 cruises or 150 days. I think it's likely that the TA is completely misinterpreting what is being communicated.

So? It still means that you are Elite after your 15th cruise or 150 days; whichever comes first.

I don't, but some people do. And when someone in line protests, they yell, "I'm Elite!"

i'm elite too and if any elite tried to jump the line they would be told to go down the back and wait their turn

I don't either - anytime I've shown my Elite card I've been told to go straight to the tender embarkation area...

Sounds like she's a little stubborn to me!
