Bravo! I agree whole-heartedly!
Why would anyone post a "Whitewashed" review of their trip? Everyone has different experiences. If you can't be totally honest about your trip, why post a review at all? Who does it benefit?
I can't wait to meet Marcello on our trip on the Brilliance!

Mermaid, it is very strange to read a post saying you have a secret about your experience. I would think you could have refrained from posting at all. That is just my opinion.

I guess I'll find out on June 23. Tina, I would appreciate your coming back with a review for us.

I will definately post a detailed review, probably not as robust as Mike's but I have gotten so much from these boards that it is the least I can do.

If something is truly rotten, I will share my experience but otherwise I tend to focus on the positive!

I leave in just over 2 weeks and I am just sooooo excited!

I used Marcelle last June and he was awesome. In fact I plan on doing a land trip to Italy and using him again.

While reading your post, I felt you were only saying you posted before with a 1/2 truth and now will not give the whole truth (secret). I did not mean you should not post at all anywhere. We used Marcello in May and got just what we expected. It was a great day. I would urge anyone thinking about going with Marcello to have detailed open communication with him. He is very antishopping and hates the tourist traps. He wants to show you the Italy of an insider. We did want to do some shopping and go to Herculeum. He took us to both places without a problem. I feel that if you let Marcello know what you want and he does not think his tour would be for you he will be honest and tell you someone else would be better.

I think you hit the nail on the head here. People have good and bad experiences and should be able to relate both on these boards. Please do not attack a poster or assume that poster is being dishonest. Perhaps the poster is trying to provide some good information about a tour operator even though the experience wasn't what was hoped for.

We used Marcello 2 weeks ago on Brilliance July 25 sailing. There were 6 in our van and 4 in the other one, all of us who had met each other on these boards.
All of the comments I read before hand are valid. It totally depends on what you are looking for whether Marcello fits your needs.
He does not like to take people shopping, but we knew that going in and the only shopping we got was at a local fruit stand that was wonderful. We ate the lighter lunch at 18 E each. It was all the red or white wine you wanted that was made right there. Everything was fresh using whatever they gathered from their gardens. We had bruchetta, 7 appetizers, 2 main courses, 3 desserts on each plate, lemonicello along with 3 other licquors. Lunch was wonderful!
Marcello is passionate about his part of Italy and he does tend to state his point over and over, but it was a wonderful day and everyone that went with us in our van totally agrees with my opinion because we did discuss it.
Some others from our "group" used Daniele's company and they had a wonderful day too. It all depends on what you want.
