Need family hotel in Miami, ideally on beach, end of Dec

Any suggestions for a reasonably priced hotel near the cruise terminal in Miami?

 

Preferences:

1) good beach access

2) activities for "tweens"

3) shuttle to airport or cruise terminal if possible

 

We'll be there just after XMAS.

Close to the beach = Miami Beach Close to the port = downtown Miami

Two different cities! :o

None of the hotels in either downtown Miami or Miami Beach offer free airport or port shuttles -- but cabs are reasonably priced. ;)

 

Your dates are during one of the highest demand tourist seasons -- prices in all of south FLA will be high. :eek:

 

Flying into FLL or MIA? :confused: FLL is only about a 40 minute drive away, many find flights to there cheaper than to MIA, and generally hotels there are cheaper than comparable places in Miami.

 

From MIA airport you can take the airport flyer bus to South Beach (the part of Miami you usually see on TV shows and in the movies), with great dining, nightlife, shopping, people watching and a world famous beach. The bus only costs $2.35 per person! Good luck! :)

How long a stay???? How many kids?

 

Throw the shuttles out of the equation. Head to Miami Beach/South Beach. NOT Miami.

 

If you agree to that, then we can offer suggestions. But you might want to go to tripadvisor to see hotels, reviews and rates for the date/s you need. Also familiarize yourself with the area. There are hotels a block or two from the beach that will run less. But might have small rooms not fit for more than two or three tops. Lots of things to consider.
