crookedhalo Posted October 9, 2012 #1 Share Posted October 9, 2012 If you had to choose two ports to dive in out of St. Kitts, Aruba and Curacao - which two would it be and why? (I've posted the same question in all three forums;)).
greenscooter Posted October 10, 2012 #2 Share Posted October 10, 2012 My husband went diving several times during our stay on Aruba. His opinion is that the nightime diving is better on Aruba. Last time we arrived on Aruba via cruise ship, his dive got scrubbed due to mechanical problems. No info. about St. Kitts or Curacao.
crookedhalo Posted October 10, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted October 10, 2012 TY for the info:). DH is trying to make up his mind!
cb at sea Posted October 10, 2012 #4 Share Posted October 10, 2012 I would check out a guidebook on all 3 ports...they will detail snorkeling/diving options and places....choose the one that best suits him!
Motorcycle Gma Posted October 11, 2012 #5 Share Posted October 11, 2012 I wouldn't miss Curacao -- I've read/heard its great next to Bonaire or Cozumel. We're going to Curacao in 2 wks. I've heard Aruba isn't that great, but we're going to dive a wreck dive there anyway, the german Antilla. DH thinks wrecks are cool and its a great intro drive to get us ready for Curacao the next day. When are you going -- I'll report back when we return. crookedhalo Posted October 12, 2012 Author #6 Share Posted October 12, 2012 Yeah I posted on the Scuba/snorkeling board as well. I've heard good things about Curacao on that board;). We don't leave until February, but I like to book him independently so he doesn't have 69 million people on the same dive:p. Thanks for the input! KirkNC Posted October 12, 2012 #7 Share Posted October 12, 2012 I would pick Curacao over Aruba if for no other reason then it is less crowded and the sites have not been over run with divers before.
Motorcycle Gma Posted October 12, 2012 #8 Share Posted October 12, 2012 Yeah I posted on the Scuba/snorkeling board as well. I've heard good things about Curacao on that board;). We don't leave until February, but I like to book him independently so he doesn't have 69 million people on the same dive:p. Thanks for the input! We're using Curious2Dive, Hans, picks you up at the port and takes you to the reefs for $95, inclusive of equipment. Hans has good reviews and has been very responsive via email. Everyone on CC seems to prefer DiveBus, but they only offered 1 dive for $70 and it didn't include equipment or the ride (cab $25). Plus they had a no cancel fee if your ship doesn't port... I really wanted to dive Mushroom Forest & blue room, but it is on the far western part of the island and they said I'd need all day to get there and back. Don't understand why I couldn't find a fast boat.
crookedhalo Posted October 12, 2012 Author #9 Share Posted October 12, 2012 WOW! Thanks for all that great info - I'll look into that. DH likes small groups. Last time around he actually was on a private trip that included staff from the ship we were on and the other RCCL ship that ported with us that morning - good way to make sure he was back on board in time:p
