Allure - taxis in St. Thomas

We're going on Allure on 12/9 and I understand we'll be docking at the Crown Bay Dock area.

 

I want to play golf at Mahogany Run and am wondering about taxi availability at the pier. Are the cabs allowed to come close to the ship pier or do we have to walk outside of the dock/shopping area to get one?

Usually both. There will be the "cattle car" type taxis (seating 12-20) inside and smaller 2-4 person taxis outside.

There are plenty of cabs just outside of the shopping area but not on the pier

This was our experience as well. There are definitely more of the large "trucks" that they try to fill up before heading out.

It's not that far really. Depending on where you are going, they will direct you to the proper taxi line.
