FREE MONEY!!!

Our son will be joining us for his last cruise before he graduates college and has to work for a living...we are sailing Century in Feb/05.

With this in mind I sealed an empty plastic water jug, and cut a slot to accept my pocket change. I placed the jug on the floor in the closet where I enter the house. I put any change I have in the jug EVERY time I enter the house. This money is to help cover our bar bill and excursions...the jug was damaged so I got another. While moving the contents from on container to the other I counted it , 4 months $1045.87 !!

Understand that we in Canada have no paper currancy under $5 and we have $1 and $2 coins...but I never missed this money!! By sailing time I expect to have $2500-3000!! Yippee!!

But it's Canadian $$$.
That will get you about three drinks at the Mast bar.

Next - Millennium - The wait begins anew.

Danno - You're doing a lot better than me. I have a change jar that I use for the same purpose. Everyday when I come home from work I put in all the change and $1 bills I have in the jar. I've been doing it since the first of the year, but the last time I checked I only had $200.

I think I may have the secret to making this work...I put in my change every single time, without exception, when I enter the house. Sometimes I am contributing 4 or 5 times a day.

I can't wait to unload those loonies and toonies at the end of the day. I don't even throw in the pennies, nickels and dimes and I still save a bundle because of the $1.00 and $2.00 coins. They really add up!

We do the same thing...we call it the "vacation fund"...it's amazing how fast it adds up. We took our change to Commerce Bank, where you can dump it in the coin counter (no charge like coinstar) and cash in. Last bottle 6 months savings $1182.64

Between that and AmEx points...we're going to Hawaii/Maui next Mayr for almost nothing. Well considering 1 point = 1 dollar spent and 1 hotel room at 4 Seasons for the night costs 45,000 AmEx points...I don't know if its the most expensive hotel room ever stayed in or the cheapest??!!??

newt, you're either very lucky or dreaming! $14 will not likely last an hour!!!

Newt,
That $14 will last an hour ... just put one nickle in at a time. And, sip your drink slowly before each pull of the handle. Yes, you should pull the handle instead of push the button. We all need the extra exercise! Hope your $14 multiplies greatly. One thought ... are those nickles "virtual" nickles on your LMBO cruise? Maybe they won't multiply after all! We do the same thing, but I have a piggy bank with a palm tree and beach scene on it. I have it sitting on top of my Celebrity photo album. Now if only I could get my husband to contribute to it!

It will easily last an hour if you have to pause and look for the slot every time you put in a new nickel - either a sign of poor vision or too many drinks!

Let me disect this...I put coins through a slot and in 12 months have thousands of dollars to show for it. You people put coins in a slot MACHINE and in a short period of time you have NOTHING to show for it. I think I like my system better!!

An Irish horse called Istabraq was almost unbeatable for about 4 years. Prior to it running on one occasion an Irishman was interviewed on TV and asked his opinion and if he thought odds of 1-2 was good value. He replied that he could put all his money in the bank for a year and earn 4% and then pay tax on the interest but he could put all his money on Istabraq for 10 minutes and earn 50% with no tax!
