Free wine is back!

You might want to check your facts before spreading misinformation

Carnival gives a free bottle of wine in the steakhouse on embarkation night

steakhouse is $35 per person there.....NOT $75

You may have mixed it up with the Chef's Table

which is wine with a multicourse dinner for maximum 12 people, a real "foodie" experience

Now to me the real "difference" would be that Celebration....I would not sail on that if you paid me, it's an old sea ferry...they thought of that big "door" opening up where they can park cars...?? eeek

My friend was dating a guy who worked on Celebration so she went on it about 5 times....and then said "NO more" LOL

Not even for free

Carnival is not for everyone but it is still a mainstream cruise not like that 2 night ferry

What are you talking about? I was talking about the Chef's table at $75 PER PERSON and Cagney's is $35 per person....what mis-information: How rude you are.

And as for the Bahamas Celebration...I won A TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS JACKPOT ON a slot machine. So there you ninny. Eat that for dinner.

And by the way, I think you are an old sea ferry.

"Carnival Does this" and you pay $75.00 per person, all the way thru a 7 course dinner, gagging on the food, and they have only one specialty restaurant and and only one pub, but they charge for you eating there.

On any NCL ship, there is a minimum of at least 13 different dining options, some costing no more than $10-25 dollars each. At least 7 are free and no one tells you what time to eat or with whom or what you have to wear to dinner.

So my friend, the difference between the two Cruise Lines is, well, Carnival has a lot of class, it's all Low but Carnival has a lot of it.

NCL is Free Style, A floating Resort. It's an entirely different class of service, style and substance on the seas.

There is a name for NCL......it's the NOW CRUISE LINE!!!!!!!!!!

Yea I am thinking of trying NCL. I am not a Carnival cheerleader. I was just stating a fact. And the price is $60 for the steakhouse for 2. And everytime I ate there it was fantastic. I have never had a bad meal on Carnival or RCI. Our last cruise we used anytime dining and ate whenever we wanted and never had a wait. Looking at booking the Norweigan Sun this spring also looking forward to Breakaway out of NYC. We live in Maine and it is an easy drive to NYC for us. I like your a big NCL fan because I like hearing good things about a ship I want to sail. I think all cruise ships are floating resorts. Never been on a bad one but I'm not a complainer either.

Also I will say Carnival lets you bring on 2 bottles of wine NO CHARGE also.

Which is nice.

Oh that is so true, and it is very nice. This is one and only thing Carnival allows for free.

On our Thanksgiving Cruise on the NCL EPIC we are in a Glorious Spa Suite with a Butler and Concierge and are bringing with us, a 1984 Dom Perignon Champagne and a 1993 La Crema Pino Noir. Oh bother, but alas, we pay $15.00 a bottle corkage....no worries....it's our 20th Anniversary and both our birthdays. Good Times, plus the Casino is sending us a complimentary bottle, the cruise line sends a bottle of bubbly because we are in a suite, and our Casino Host is sending us two bottles, plus we are going to take advantage of the "Free" bottle on the first night in Cagney's. A bottle of wine for each night....very good times indeed!

Yes you are right, I was so mad at the previous poster chastising me for going on a Casino Junket cruise on the Bahamas Celebration, that I mis-wrote.

I meant to say the Carnival Steakhouse is $35.00.

Thank you so much for allowing me to clarify this! Cagney's is far better and the service is far Superior to anything Carnival has to offer on their worst day.

Damn you must lose alot of money in the casino.

I won a $25,000 jackpot in the Bahamas Celebration Casino....its a fun little cruise than in no way compares to NCL, but its a whole lot of fun.....

but if your a girl looking to get some sum sum on the side, these guys on that ship are in it for the fun fun....get my drift? So no wonder the previous poster put me down....

I had a good time....I guess her GF got a long term rash down in the netherworld that modern medicine could not cure:eek:

We are looking at April 10th, the last sailing in the Caribbean in 2013 before the Sun goes to Europe. What a dy-no-mite schedule!

The great thing the Sun is not going to Europe but rather Vancouver doing one way Alaska cruises. I cruised Alaska last time the Sun was there. Still one of my favorite ships.

Not correct. The $75 you are referring to is Chef's Table and that includes wine pairings with each course. Similiar to the Chef's Table offered on most other cruise lines, INCLUDING NCL.

I believe Jimmy was referring to the fact that Carnival routinely offers a free bottle of wine in their steakhouses during the first night of a cruise, no coupon needed. The charge to dine in the steakhouse is $35 pp.

Comparisons may be a "little" biased since NCL offers the wine at any specialty restaurant and some of the specialty restaurants on NCL have a ten dollar per person cover charge.

Does Carnival have anything to compare with the ten dollar charge ?????

I wish they would do this for 2013 sailings too. I just got a coupon for a $50 credit from facebook but its only good on 2012 sailings not 2013. With only 2.5 months left you would think they could at least extend the coupons through early next year.

But on NCL they require you to book two specialty restaurants

I do think Carnival's steakhouse is probably better than the $10 venues on NCL

I don't see why some people have to "defend defend" cruiselines so much

I like NCL

in fact I am sailing on them Sunday

but when people post outright wrong statements it only confuses everything and everyone

Forgive me for not clarifying the Chef's Table Experience which we have done on several lines, that is the point I was referring to, as wine is poured out profusely during that gastronomic session.

As far as the Steakhouse, yes, on the first night only, in Carnival's lone restaurant outside of the "structured" dining room, at $35 per person, you get a free bottle of red or white house wine.

And yes, before I get chastised again, you can opt for "anytime dining", in which our service was less that desired and our experiences were monumentally horrific on each of the last three Carnival sailings. This is precisely why we choose NCL over everyone else. NCL is a class act!

Uhhh.....on the newest Carnival ships they have a for pay Italian restaurant

sushi/asian restaurant for an upcharge

also some bar food for nominal $3.33 charge in the new Rum Bar

you might try checking facts

To get a free bottle of wine, you have to pay for two cover charges - not teo restaurants.

Yea on the newest Carnival ship they added more pay restaurants. The free venues look awesome Guys Burger Joint and Iguanas Mexican. The also have a free Mongolian Wok and a Middle eastern bar Burrito bar fish and Chips. They offer alot more free venues than NCL. The 2.0 upgrades are nice!

How many free venues do the Carnival ships offer ? The Epic has eleven.

Can we still use the coupon if we book the restaurant online in advance? (Or is it easy enough to get a reservation onboard that I shouldn't both).

Too bad about it being lobster night, but we fell in love with grilled lobster on our honeymoon and learned how to make it at home, so I guess we will survive missing lobster night:)
