keystonemama Posted October 25, 2012 #29 Share Posted October 25, 2012 Jax news as of 12 noon is watching storm closely, now both the American & European models are alike in where its headed, toward Del Mar (spelling?) DE, Long Island, predicting lots of wind by Tues, power outages and flooding from her and millions to be affected. Cold front coming in to Jax Tues/Wed, highs of 68 lows in 40's. Our worst wind will be tomorrow (Fri), some rain and windy conditions Saturday but getting better as the day goes on and Sunday should be fine. Seas will have 10-12 ft waves. Happy Sailing,
mikeysed Posted October 25, 2012 #30 Share Posted October 25, 2012 What are typical waves in caribbean? What size in ft?
OKCruiseMan Posted October 25, 2012 Author #31 Share Posted October 25, 2012 Typical waves in the Caribbean are with your hand (not feet) with the thumb and pinky finger extended and the the three other fingers flat against your palm. (maybe 3' to 5' ???)
funinthesun1964 Posted October 25, 2012 #32 Share Posted October 25, 2012 Thanks for posting the link for the webcams. I arrive at FLL around 5:30 Saturday evening and cruise on Sunday. I will continue to check... Yes we are flyng. We are from Ohio so a trip to FLL would take FOREVER. Anyway now I am glad that our flight is later than in the day rather than earlier. I had planned on calling the airline and seeing if we could go standby on an earlier flight, but forget it now. I'm hoping that by 5:30 the storm will have moved away. I know we will still have wind and a horrible flight:mad: but I just need to get there!
SharkCruiser24 Posted October 25, 2012 #33 Share Posted October 25, 2012 Your flight won't be so bad, the plane will fly above most of it. The only rough part will be the approach to the airport. Should only be about ten minutes of your flight.
WhansaMi Posted October 25, 2012 #34 Share Posted October 25, 2012 We are supposed to leave from Baltimore on Sunday. :-( I don't care if we just stay moored at the dock, I just wanna get on the ship!!!
lidodeckbound Posted October 25, 2012 #35 Share Posted October 25, 2012 We are flying into Sanford tomorrow evening, then to Cocoa Beach for two nights befor we set sail from Port Canaveral on Sunday. I am more worried about the plane landing than the ship.

sjn911 Posted October 26, 2012 #38 Share Posted October 26, 2012 The ships do an awesome job moving around the storms, be careful..enjoy the safety and the smaller waves wherever you all travel!! Just enjoy the ship!!
OKCruiseMan Posted October 26, 2012 Author #39 Share Posted October 26, 2012 I've updated the cams for further up the coast. The old ones are still there, just go to "Home". I've added the Avista Resort for Myrtle beach, as it has some nice views of the beach. However, some of those controlling the cam are more interested in who is by the pool than the beach. I may have to change it out later.. Stay Safe,
JaniceB Posted October 26, 2012 #40 Share Posted October 26, 2012 We are supposed to leave from Baltimore on Sunday. :-( I don't care if we just stay moored at the dock, I just wanna get on the ship!!! We were hoping the same thing last year but they took her out in the bay with only crew. We had to wait until the next morning to board. We had insurance so we got a hotel in Baltimore and had a good time watching football on Sunday. One of those lemonade days.

Thanks! I was amazed at the webcams you posted, especially the one in Jamaica. I watched a guy dive from those high cliffs into the water and then climb right up the side of the cliff to get back up. So interesting. And I was glued to the Florida ones yesterday--watching that ocean almost make it into the pools at the hotel. And, I noticed that The Weather Channel used two of the webams that you posted here, but they were way later showing them than you.
winddawn Posted October 26, 2012 #45 Share Posted October 26, 2012 I bet you will not visit HMC. Not only because of the tendering issue, but because the beach will be a mess after Sandy moved directly over the Bahamas. Hope you have a safe cruise. joe bucker Posted October 27, 2012 #48 Share Posted October 27, 2012 Where were you suppose to go? Now you are going to Key West and Costa Maya? You try to book at Maya Chan and have your Corona moment. I wish Costa Maya was a regular stop for the Magic!
