tomc Posted May 7, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 7, 2004 A friend might visit the Dominican Republic. Does she need a passport to visit and return from there? She is a USA citizen/resident. * * * Put "Cruise Critic" in e-mail subject line: tomcarten@hotmail.com
doone Posted May 7, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 7, 2004 Tomc, friends of mine went here this past winter and, yes, they did need passports.
wwinfl91 Posted May 7, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 7, 2004 We were there on a cruise a couple of years ago and there were no requirements that we were told about needing a passport if you were there for a day on a cruise ship. I would suspect if you were going to stay in one of the resorts for a few days or weeks I am relatively sure you would need to have your passport. According to the following website passports are not required for the Dominican Republic but are recommended. Check the website for more information. http://travel.state.gov/foreignentryreqs.html/ Have a great next cruise. kitty9 Posted May 8, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 8, 2004 http://www.usemb.gov.do/Consular/ACS/passports.htm According to the above website, you do not need a passport for the Dominican Republic. This website is directly from the US government consular affairs. Darcie
snshn3 Posted May 11, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 11, 2004 You can travel with only your birth certificate and ID as that is the only requirement by law, but the officials there will give you a hard time. It is best she gets her passport.
