Rhine Cell phone

Any ideas as to the best way to have cell phone usage while on the Rhine? Would like to check on home while on the river and not use the ships service or my own. International rentals?

River cruise ships usually don´t have any sattelite based service so you will have land based service anyway. As there are a lot of communities along the river the signal should be good all along the Rhine river.

Call your cell phone provider to see if your current cell phones can be used for international. Ours were and Verizon helped us set them up for

$1.29 per minute or $4.99 for a month and $.99 per minute.

 

Or they might have a rental program.

 

We had a bad experience wioth Mobal - in 10 days, we coould only make one call. That was in Florence and Rome - not remote little towns.
