Wendy The Wanderer Posted October 27, 2012 #3 Share Posted October 27, 2012 It's hot and humid, at least where I've been--Rio and up the coast, Salvador and Fortaleeza. It was 40C one day, the sun was brutal.
vaitape Posted October 27, 2012 #4 Share Posted October 27, 2012 ugh! Love warm tropical places but sightseeing in those temps sounds miserable. 100 degrees and humid....melting! Dress appropriately, take lots of water, wear sunscreen and a hat. Dec to March, it's HOT!

potterhill Posted October 27, 2012 #7 Share Posted October 27, 2012 We were there in 06. In Recife it was extremely hot. How hot I don't know, but likely 40C. As we went south from there it got progressively cooler. The beach water was literally like a bath tub. We walked on the beach and I wished we had taken swimwear with us. Beaches were crowded. In Santiago it was lovely but not sweltering. I would say low 30sC Water still warm but less so. Lots of people on the beach. In Rio the temp was mid twenties but the water was chilly. No one swimming except a few brave souls, likely crazy Canucks! There was a beach volleyball tournament and also a motorcycle derby thing going on that we watched for a while. I found it interesting how much the temperature of both the air and water dropped as we went South. In Rio it would have been late spring, so it makes sense. Hope this helps Mo
