Joeychgo Posted November 1, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 1, 2012 Ive seen a number of cruises from NY / Boston to the Carribean. They are cheap in the winter. My question is, how long before you get into decent weather?
Rare Keith1010 Posted November 1, 2012 #2 Share Posted November 1, 2012 Usually one to one and one-half days. Keith
golfadj Posted November 1, 2012 #3 Share Posted November 1, 2012 And very often two days each way before you can use a pool. Also the risk of weather preventing you from getting to the port. This is why we travel to Florida for our winter cruises so we have a full 7 days of warm weather.
Rare Tapi Posted November 1, 2012 #4 Share Posted November 1, 2012 You will loose 3-4 days just getting to and from the warm weather (1.5-2 days each way). These "Caribbean" cruises from New York are convenient for people who live in the northeast and don't want to fly. They are normally priced higher than real Caribbean cruises from departure ports in Florida because of the convenience of not having to purchase airfare. Many times, even with airfare factored in, cruises from Florida are a better deal than the cruises departing from the northeast. Not only that, but you are not spending half of your "Caribbean" cruise bundled up in winter clothes... If you need to fly, regardless of where your cruise departs from, I would strongly suggest departing from a Florida port.

Actually the Miracle sailings from NY this fall and winter are dirt cheap. We got a balcony cabin for Nov 30 for $459 pp
