kokopelli-az Posted November 9, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 9, 2012 We will be on the American Queen, arriving at New Orleans June 9, 2013. Is there plenty of time to get from the cruise port to the New Orleans airport for a 10:45 am flight?
DebbieMH Posted November 13, 2012 #2 Share Posted November 13, 2012 Id call AQ and see what they think. You should be ok if you get off no later than 8:00. Traffic can back up on I-10 because of construction, so take take that into consideration. Nola has been working on I-10 now for 20 years, so it wont be complete! KirkNC Posted November 14, 2012 #3 Share Posted November 14, 2012 I would want something later, preferably after noon.
DebbieMH Posted November 14, 2012 #4 Share Posted November 14, 2012 I went I-10 this morning a little after 8, i agree with the above poster, get a flight at noon or after to be on the safe side.
kokopelli-az Posted November 17, 2012 Author #5 Share Posted November 17, 2012 Update for anyone else with this question. I called The American Queen and they said I can probably get off the ship by 7:00 am, just let the front desk know that I have an early flight and ask them to request a taxi to be sure one is waiting at the dock. The driving to the airport from where the ship docks will be on a Sunday morning so I am thinking it will be a faster (than during rush hour) drive. I'm going to go ahead and make reservations for the 10:45 am flight. Thanks for everyone's input.
DebbieMH Posted November 18, 2012 #6 Share Posted November 18, 2012 Sunday, you will be fine and if you can get off the boat around 7 or 7:30, no worries!
DebbieMH Posted December 14, 2012 #7 Share Posted December 14, 2012 We docked in New Orleans about 4:00 am this morning. Some people were disembarking around 6:30 fyi
kokopelli-az Posted December 15, 2012 Author #8 Share Posted December 15, 2012 For your replies regarding time of debarkation. If we are lucky enough to debark by 6am or so we might even get to pick up an earlier flight ! Thanks again.
DebbieMH Posted December 15, 2012 #9 Share Posted December 15, 2012 You get a form about midway through asking how you want to disembark. Since we live in Nola, we just said we would take our luggage off the boat - there was an option for that. A lot easier than having to leave your luggage out the night before. And, all A Q did was put all the luggage on the dock, so if you planned on a taxi, you would have to go through the luggage down there to get yours anyway. Might as well just disembark with it.
