hartsnvt Posted November 10, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 10, 2012 I have not cruised for over 15 years and was wondering if the inside of the ship is still wicked cold esp at night. I am trying to plan my packing. Thanks!!
sdmike Posted November 10, 2012 #2 Share Posted November 10, 2012 I'm a little confused because the Pearl is only 6 years old. How could you be asking if it's "still cold" if the last time you sailed it was a good 8-9 years before she was built? :) The ships are climate controlled just like any other modern public facility or hotel. You can control the temperature in your own cabin with your own thermostat. The public areas are generally very comfortable, but because people have different temperature preferences they might find it cool or warm instead. If you're concerned about it being cold, don't worry. it won't be, but on occasion it can be on the cool side (or the warm side). Get the idea? :) If you get chilled when others don't seem to, take a sweater or something along. But no, it won't be "wicked cold" unless you're on your balcony in Alaska in May
hartsnvt Posted November 10, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted November 10, 2012 I should have clarified my question. oops!:DI meant that when I used to cruise over 15 years ago it always seemed cold at night inside cruiseships. We are sailing on the Pearl in Dec and I wanted to know if that particular ship was cold as well. Thanks for your reply!
wibeachbum Posted November 10, 2012 #4 Share Posted November 10, 2012 I think the air conditioning can definitely be cool. I've never been too warm in public areas on the ship. I would bring a sweater.
boopsahoy Posted November 10, 2012 #5 Share Posted November 10, 2012 I always bring a sweater. Spmetimes the casino or resaurants can be a little chilly but definitely not COLD.:)
punkincc Posted November 10, 2012 #6 Share Posted November 10, 2012 I am the one in any crowd who is always freezing cold while everyone else is comfy or even too warm. I have been pleasantly surprised at the comfy temps of every NCL ship I have been on. I always pack a sweater, but I often go home with it unworn. breezer Posted November 10, 2012 #7 Share Posted November 10, 2012 I was on the Pearl in October. I packed sleeveless dresses to wear in the evening and I was freezing. Definitely pack a sweater.
Rare mitsugirly Posted November 10, 2012 #8 Share Posted November 10, 2012 I was on the Pearl in March and some of the places inside did seem cold to me. One of them was definitely the casino. I kept finding myself running back to my room for my sweater. But then again, I have found this on all of the cruises I've been on. :)
kapoho2 Posted November 10, 2012 #9 Share Posted November 10, 2012 Every NCL ship I have been on (to a warm weather destination) has been freezing in the evenings. I always have to wear a sweater in the evenings and rarely wear any of the summery, tropical clothes I own. I live in Hawaii and must be truthful....my blood has thinned out a lot..LOL. We don't need A/C in our home, so I am not used to air conditioning and have to wear long sleeves to the grocery store, etc. But, we cruised on the NCL Pearl this summer to Alaska and I found the ship to be very comfortable. No need for sweaters while on board. But, once I went outside....another story...I was cold and wet. But, despite that it was probably my favorite cruise ever!!
