Deck 4- Category 6 - Partially obstructed balcony cabins

We are thinking of booking a Panama Canal cruise on the Queen E and are wondering if the obstruction is so great on these cabins that it isn't worth while to upgrade from an ocean view. On the other hand is it worth the extra fee to upgrade the category? Or is the obstruction slight enough not to impede our pleasure?

We are an older couple to whom the Panama canal crossing is on the bucket list.

Should we be looking at another cruise line instead?

Thanks for your input.

There are some that are more obstructed than others. Check this out from Cunard's FAQ. https://ask.cunard.com/help/cunard/fleet/qe_obs

We did the Panama Canal on the QV in January.

We had an oceanview, but spent nearly all the time up on deck watching from the front of the ship. Thre is a running commentary broadcast, pointing out points of interest, birds (look out for the pelicans!) and crocodiles etc which you would miss if you were on your balcony.

Go for it! The pleasure is out there with everyone else on deck, not sitting alone on your balcony! Find yourself a comfy chair and enjoy.

We had a metal fronted balcony on one of our cruises unfortunately I can't remember the cabin number but the balcony area was great, quite deep. It seemed bigger and was towards the front of the ship. I wouldn't hesitate in asking for that cabin again if only I knew the number! I'll check the deck plans maybe that'll jog my memory.
