scotslizzy Posted November 19, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 19, 2012 I am about to book my reservations and wondered if it is common for bookings to be made on the first and last nights of a cruise. On previous cruises (not with Oceania) we often like to do this as the main dining room can be hectic . Is the same on Oceania .We are sailing on the Riveria . Thanks Scotslizzy
neepawa Posted November 19, 2012 #2 Share Posted November 19, 2012 On our last two Oceania cruises, we booked a specialty restaurant for the first night to avoid the hectic situation in the GDR. We have never booked for the last night but may do so next year on Riviera. Cheers, Don
potterhill Posted November 19, 2012 #3 Share Posted November 19, 2012 On our earlier cruises we were able to get extra reservations on the first and last nights. The specialty restaurants would be fairly empty. Not so on our last two cruises. Fully booked! So much for that strategy.:( Mo
weluvcruisin' Posted November 20, 2012 #4 Share Posted November 20, 2012 On our last cruise we found the last night was fully booked...wish we had booked for that night...next cruise we will. Can't comment on first night we have never booked that night just go to the dining room and haven't noticed any problems with service or organization. bbwex Posted November 20, 2012 #5 Share Posted November 20, 2012 We booked the first night in our initial reservation group and enjoyed a very nice first dinner in Red Ginger. We were on a 10-day cruise, and extra reservations were a bit hard to come by, as everyone was getting through their four automatic ones. We did get back into Red Ginger the last night, and could have gotten into Polo as well that night. Frankly, we enjoy the specialty restaurants anytime we can get in -- first night, last night, any night in between.
Rare ronrick1943 Posted November 20, 2012 #6 Share Posted November 20, 2012 Also the last night a lot of people have had just to much food, and go to the Terrace Cafe or room service. That's the night you pack---maybe after a light dinner, on to one of the bars to say your good-byes and have a few drinks.
