Pelican Grand and Hilton Ft. Lauderdale Beach

Can anyone answer a few questions about these properties?

 

How far from port/airport? Taxi cost?

Are there any restaurants or shops within walking distance?

Pelican Grand:

7.5 miles from airport $25, 4.5 from port entrance $20.

Lovely boutique hotel. Has a restaurant, about a half mile to a few others and a few tacky beach shops. Just over a mile to Galleria Mall.

 

Hilton Beach:

6.5 miles from airport $20-25, 3.5 from port entrance $15-20.

Has a restaurant that serves light fare. Next to the awesome 954 Steak at the W, about 5 blocks to Casablanca Cafe, another few blocks to all of the restaurants and bars in the main beach area and Beach Place shops. About 1.5 miles to Galleria Mall.

Love the Sunday brunch overlooking the beach at the Pelican Grand.

I love Pelican Grand but unfortunately it really isn't near anything. You can see their menu and pricing on their website and if that is appealing to you, then the hotel itself is beautiful. We are cruising in the Spring and had a reservation at Pelican but changed it to Lago Mar due to better variety of onsite services (restaurants). But again, if that isn't acutely important to you, then the Pelican is fabulous.
