montrealvic Posted November 29, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 29, 2012 I am having a tough time deciding between these two hotels. The price is the same for both. We will have 3 days pre cruise in january with 2 children age 9 and 5. I know the galvez has a pool. Although that pool can be used by Tremont guests as well. Which one would you recommend? Confused.....

ssb Posted November 29, 2012 #5 Share Posted November 29, 2012 Thanks for the info we do plan to do some activities at moody. However if given a choice between the two Wyndham propeties which one should we choose? I would be happy at either! Both are excellent!!!! Both, as you are aware are Wyndham property managed, and locally owned by same along with Harbor House on port. The kids would probably be happier at Galvez on the beach, with pool, pleasure pier near by and large gift shop across street over water! The shuttle will take you downtown to Old Town Strand and Post Office Streets any time! In town be sure and go to La Kings Confectionary Ice Cream and Candy for you and the kids! ssb Posted November 30, 2012 #7 Share Posted November 30, 2012 great thanks! I do like the pool at the Galvez. Do you think it will be too cold to swim in it in January? Some northerners and Europeans surprise me and swim in winter in the Gulf and the cold pools on the ships and at our hotels! I'm a southern boy and love our warm waters! I just spent 29 days on the Mariner in Europe and a Transatlantic! And only spent time in the hottubs! Thats why I'm leaving Sunday for the Southern Carribean on the Vision. The pool at the Galvez may be heated. I know the San Luis Hotel pool is heated, also one of better hotels in Galveston! Call the Galvez and ask for Jackie! She will know! ssb Posted November 30, 2012 #9 Share Posted November 30, 2012 If you are interested? And since you were asking about swimming pools! Incidently Schlitterbahn Waterpark Galveston by Moody Gardens has a heated indoor season. According to them whatever the weather, surfing, splashing fun is on whether it is hot or cold, rain or shine,… http://www.schlitterbahn.com
Jeano222 Posted December 9, 2012 #10 Share Posted December 9, 2012 I have always booked Hotel Galvez by going to Galveston.com however if You book through Wyndham website you can save a considerable amount of money on the room rate, plus they have more room choices available. In my particular case I saved 40.00 per night, by booking with Wyndham. I hope I'm not breaking any rules posting this.
