tfox1018 Posted December 12, 2012 #1 Share Posted December 12, 2012 We will be on the Caribbean Princess in January. We stop in Curacao on a Tuesday from 1 - 10 PM. Has anyone visited Mikve Israel-Emanuel while in Curacao? Princess does not have an excursion that stops there so I am wondering if it is close enough to walk to? Thank you! Isa65 Posted December 12, 2012 #2 Share Posted December 12, 2012 The synagogue (and its museum/gift shop) is very interesting to visit. It is within walking distance from the pier in a side street of the downtown main street. Just follow the path to the swinging bridge, cross the bridge and you're at the beginning of the main street (Breedestraat). If you walk further up this main street you will find a little square on your left (Gomezplein). Cross this square and at the end you make a right. That's the Hanchi Snoa (which literally means - Synagogue Street). At the end of this street on the left corner is the synagogue. Have a great cruise! sail7seas Posted December 13, 2012 #3 Share Posted December 13, 2012 It's very interesting to see and easy to walk to. Most anyone can give you directions after you cross the floating bridge.

Rare NorbertsNiece Posted December 17, 2012 #5 Share Posted December 17, 2012 I visited the synagogue on a Jewish Heritage tour with Gigi Scheper. Was incredibly interesting and extremely good value for money. We also stopped at the Curacao liquor factory..... yum!
buddylover Posted January 6, 2013 #6 Share Posted January 6, 2013 Just as an "FYI" - it does cost $ to go into and see the synagogue, so it is worthwhile, $$ wise, to take a tour that will also take you inside. Also, the old Jewish ghetto area (which is now a fortune 500 financial district housing Big 4 CPA firms, lawyers, world wide financial institutions) which is a protected historical area is also very, very interesting to see....those homes/fencing/stained glass windows, were enthralling! Very beautiful and not to be missed.
