Has anyone used the new gift cards yet?

It would be nice if someone answered the question. By now, people must have used them and know if the balance was given back or if the balance was lost.

Eh it was worth a shot. I just got a bunch of 100 cards and will put them on my sail and sign as needed. That way if I need to do the casino method I am not pulling too much at the cage.

You can just still call and get OBC without buying the gift cards. I asked, and below is the response form CCL..

I just emailed a Carnival rep that had helped me with OBC last year and she responded with the below:

We actually no longer do funship dollar certificates. We now have Carnival Gift Cards that can be purchased at www.carnivalgiftcards.com . if you are wanting them for on board credits then you purchase the gift cards and take onboard with you and have applied to your onboard expense account.

Hope that offers some confirmation.

They did answer it ...

Info here, check out the FAQ link at the bottom, too.

http://www.carnivalgiftcards.com/

Q: Can I receive a refund on funds I have placed in my Carnival Gift Card?

A: No, Gift Cards are not refundable or redeemable for cash, except where required by law. Gift Cards are redeemable for cruise reservation or onboard spending only, and there is no cash back.

I called yesterday and they told me if you did not use all of it, there is no refund.

While it is true that they don't refund any balance (most gift cards don't!), it is EASY to go cash out in the casino using one of the slot machines. You simply download money from your onboard S&S account to your player's account & cash out in the casino. There are also ATM machines where you can get cash from your S&S account on some ships. So no money is lost......

Funny! I just called yesterday and was told that the only way to apply OBC was to buy the gift card which by the way you are charged .95 for shipping.

I tried one day last week and was told the same thing-- i needed to buy the gift card-- No thanks.

you can not get cash back from the card--

example-- you have an extra 100 gift card that you did not apply-- you can not go to the guest services and ask for a refund.

BUT you have the gift cards applied to your account-- once applied it is now cash.

you make sure you cash down your account in the casino the night before you are getting off

Or, if you don't cash out at the casino, they cut you a check on the last night?

My daughter didn't use all of her's she received a check back for $2.81 on our last night.

LOL Thank you that was what I was asking!

I know they will not put the left over on a gift card, but was wondering if you apply lets say a $100.00 gift card to your sail and sign and only spent lets say $50.00 of it would they issue a check for the remaining $50.00.. Now we know!:)
